    U.S. Constitution

No hostility here, just a little sarcasm is all. You said, "lawyers, businessmen, and executives..." aren't the "type" you'd like. Personally, I don't see what's terrible about having lawyers craft statutory law. It may be useless when you die, but money can certainly extend life.

    That's the prob w/conservatism; it's complicated.

    Yup, books are lame.

    That's the prob w/conservatism; it's complicated.

I've read Burke and Hooker. I don't need a talk show host to sum it up for me; I've read the original sources. Thanks though. :peace:

    U.S. Constitution

So what line of work do you prefer our representatives to come from?

    That's the prob w/conservatism; it's complicated.

So let me get this straight. Conservatism is so "complicated" that it can be summed up in a podcast? Lol. Burke must be rolling over in his grave. Why don't you read Burke then Paine's Rights of Man, and tell me who you side with.

    U.S. Constitution

Are you advocating a form of government that has yet to be thought of yet? I don't see a way that any country will thrive outside of a mixed-economy, republican form of government for any length of time. Any suggestions?

Obama not a citizen of US?

It's all relative. So again, how much more than the typical citizen do you have to earn to be considered "rich?"

Obama not a citizen of US?

The unadjusted median income in California is around $35,000. I'd say that if you make seven times more than the average citizen you're fairly "rich." How much more do you have to earn than the typical citizen to be considered "rich" by you? Ten times more? Twenty? Thirty? State Reports...

    Cindy McCain's $300,000 Outfit

I take it you haven't done as much as I have.

    Cindy McCain's $300,000 Outfit

I volunteered at Heifer Internationals' Overlook Farm, and after I graduated college I went to work for Heifer in Arkansas for a year before going back to school. It's a pretty prominent NPO, perhaps you've heard of it. I'm only twenty-two years old. What have you done?

The Problems as I see them

I don't think we disagree much here. I'd say that Hoover deserves quite a bit of blame though. I've yet to see much of a contractionary policy by the Fed so far (actually the opposite has occured): Historical Changes of the Target Federal Funds and Discount Rates - Federal Reserve Bank of New...

Media bias ... ? What media bias ...??

You've got a very, very loose definition of media if you include Oprah and US Weekly.

Media bias ... ? What media bias ...??

Ricky Retardo and gay? I thought you had to be at least 18 y/o to sign up for this site. I think most the women on Fox are actually pretty hot, just not her. I highly doubt you speak Arabic, because you can barely type English. Since you claim to anyway, could you tell me what the word for...

A British Journalist Nails It ...

I agree with him: westerners do love their country. I wonder how they feel about succession.

Media bias ... ? What media bias ...??

No, it was a secular school; moreover, they accused the school of espousing Wahhabism. Nothing like raising doubts like a presidential candidate could be a jihadist ready to go Daniel Pearl on our cracker asses. bongsmilie

The Problems as I see them

Stable until an economic crisis reaches and the gov't has its hands tied. Exactly how do they go about printing all this money when we run out? I'd love to hear because I thought it was the Federal Reserve who either expanded or contracted the money supply, not the Treasury. I guess things...

The Problems as I see them

So we should do it out of nostalgia? Floating currencies are present and will only expand in the future. bongsmilie

    I'm voting for McCain....

Current capital gains rates are locked in until 2010. Do you even fall into an income bracket where you currently are paying a gain rate of 33%? What are you having to pay on short or long-term gains currently? My guess is that you don't pay a dime and won't have to if Obama wins. He's...

The Problems as I see them

Ever hear that wages are downwards sticky? People aren't rational agents and are very much opposed to taking a cut in their wages even while the general prices of goods and services decrease. That's partly why we have deflationary spirals. No, it'll happen with any commodity which is why I...
