    The Battered Voter Syndrome

It's nice to have an economically informed person here. So let me pick your brain for all our benefit. What economic data from FRED are you looking at? What would productivity have to be in order to grow out of our now ten trillion dollar debt and how long would it take without at some point...

    The Battered Voter Syndrome

So the guy labels the BCRA as an affront to freedom of speach, then he proceeds to criticize Obama's fundraising, especially from corporations. Yup, no contradiction there at all.

    The Battered Voter Syndrome

Would you please explain in your own words the philosophical difference between negative and positive liberty. Our country was founded on the ideas like those of Locke (negative), not Rousseau (positive). We're not Athenians.

    That's the prob w/conservatism; it's complicated.

I've not proclaimed or inferred that I'm intelligent, yet. My SAT, GMAT, and LSAT scores do that for me. Okay, now I have. When have you not been able to understand what I'm saying?

Nope, twenty-three as of last Monday.

    Colin Powell endorses Obama

How is he the most liberal member of the Senate? I suppose because the National Journal says he is, and you've become good at parroting people these days. You know, ripping off Coulter's B. Hussein Obama, adding an apostrophe after "O," saying he won't produce a birth certificate, etc. Do you...

I think that you'll find it's not as biased as you think. Are you an anarcho-capitalist?

Then take a look at the Oxford Economic Papers or UK Housing Review. I suppose the Manhattan Institute isn't biased.

    What is your average yield?

If you don't do a perpetual grow you could get close to a pound with five gallon buckets doing a soil grow.

If you're interested in a non-ideological critique of housing subsidization I'd recommend taking a gander at the Oxford Economic Papers.

I suppose the market dictates that I have the information and you don't. Honestly, if I weren't a student I wouldn't have access either. You can get the studies directly from HUD, and it's much cheaper.

Husock's writing barely touched on vouchers, and when he did, he immediately diverted the discussion into imposed housing standards. I'd like to see statistical data like the studies HUD issues yearly rather than an ideological viewpoint.

Thought you'd like it. Don't really feel like I have to explain positions I don't support, but I do support vouchers like HUD's.

I don't because government failures are non-market failures.

I believe the gov't has a role in correcting market failures and promoting social justice. That's it pretty much.

I guess I'd say I'm more of a transformative democratic socialist, which is misleading in a way due to the fact I'm not a socialist. My views are similar with Paine, Mill, and Attlee (sort of). I'm also a fan of Thaler and Sunstein and their development of libertarian paternalism.

Liberal veterans like McCain who said: "There's a clear division between those who have a military background and experience in these issues and people like Giuliani, Romney and Thompson who don't -- who chose to do other things when this nation was fighting its wars."

    Colin Powell endorses Obama

In this thread you've said this so far: “Powell is a liberal, so there's no great surprise that he'd endorse O'Bama.” “And on Colin Powell ... his endorsement of O'Bama is based upon race. He even admitted as much. Don't think so? Ask yourself if Powell would have endorsed...

If you think he's smart that's fine, it certainly doesn't make it true. Honestly, I don't want to listen to any political talk radio of any sort. The people I know who do usually come up with lame statements like: "Liberalism is simple. __________ is the enemy. Unite around Democrats...
