    Burping jars

I'm always finding my harvest dry way too fast here in Norcal. I cut big branches, trim the fan leaves and hang in a closed closet, within 2-3 days they start to get a little crispy on the outside so I put the branches in a paper grocery bag and stuff it in a cubby for a day or so. At this point...

    Burping jars

Cross posted so I can hopefully get the right answer before damaging my cure. My first plant went into jars 2 nights ago. I thought they might’ve still been too wet that first night, so I removed from jar and put in paper bag overnight. Buds officially went into jars last night. Checked on them...

    Jar stability and not burping?

Just to double check, if I put my trimmed dry buds in jars with my hygrometers and after 10 hours they read 58%RH I don’t need to burp them right? Should I place a small fan leaf in one and see if I can get it up to 60-62%? Or just leave them?

Should I still burp the jar if the air outside it has greater humidity?

Normal room humidity is 75%. I managed to reduce humidity in the jar with a bag of rice and brought jar humidity down to 55 - 65%. Should I still burp even though the buds will be exposed to higher humidity?

    Burping jars in drying tent?

I'm wondering if it's a good idea to burp my jars in my drying tent? The tent is held right around 60% RH and there is a light breeze. I'm planning on burping for 1 hour a day for the first week. What do you guys think? Thanks.

CURING FOR THE FIRST TIME QUESTION

Hey fellas I’m in a bit of a tough spot. First harvest ever and I checked the tricomes throughout flower to gauge the best time to flush and harvest. 5-10% amber, 80% cloudy, 10-15% clear. From seed to harvest it was 83 days. Growers Choice Sour Kush Autoflower. Dry room: 50-55 rh%, 60-70f...

What's the purpose of "burping" jars?

When aging tobacco the whole idea of using mason jars is that you can heat them a little and put the covers on and create a slight vacuum to prevent air leakage. Purposely opening the jar repeatedly would make the jar pointless, would it not? You just create the vacuum and leave the jar sit for...

Just finished making my self burping jars.

I’m horrible at remembering to burp my jars each day, and someone posted about this on Reddit awhile back, so I thought these would be great to try for my current harvest. I can’t wait to try them out to see how well they work. I originally made just one set of four 1/2 gallon jars but thought...

DIY battery powered, auto-burping curing jars!

I've got it set to burp for 15 minutes once a day to begin with. I'll drop it down to once every few days after a week or so. I let it run for 10 hours straight and the battery pack still had a charge. So it should be good for a few months. Easy to add additional jars as needed. Supply list...

    Jar burping

So if you live in a dry state like Colorado, you're fighting rapid/over-drying after harvest. So you've invested in environment control to really slow that dry down. You get a stem that cracks and it's ready to be jarred up! You slap a hygrometer in the jar to make sure you're not in that 70%...

Jarring and burping question (includes poll and music)

Do you put the threaded jar ring on every time you close the jars Or do you just sit the rubberized inner lid on them, and that cover will provide an adequate seal between burpings?

How long to burp and open jars ?

So I've hung my buds for 4 days and they maybe could of gone 1 more day drying but they are still pretty much ready for the cure, I'm away from home for 3 days and have decided to bring them with me. I've done a fair bit of research on the burping and cure etc and I don't have any hygrometer...

    Jar size

When curing your buds and burping the jars, do any of you find that the amount of bud to air ratio is important? Say I have a half gallon jar that the bud fills half way so there is much more air than a couple quart size jars filled 3/4 or more. Is the air ratio important for curing and...

one of four has hay smell, same batch

Just a cure question. My normal harvest goes, wet trim, dry 5- 7 days in dark cool cabinet. Then into jars with burping procedures. Have 4 mason jars from same plants. There about 3 weeks into the jars. ONE of the jars has a pungent hay smell. Others all are nicely aeromatic. Anyone else have...
