    mold and cold resistant strains

I’m at 42 in Canada and the sativa keeps growing for a few weeks even after the hardwood trees drop their leaves. As long as you are getting decent sunny days they keep on growing. The buds might be long fluffy spears but the joints drip resin right from the first toke. Mold and bugs are not so...

Why is legal Canadian weed so bad?

Did you ever wonder what happens to the pesticide residue during the irradiation process?

    In-ground soil preparation

I really like biochar for aeration. It’s not as unsightly as perlite either. I just make it out of yard waste and hardwood branches. Light up the pile and add your leftover bone scrap. When it’s ready put it out with a hose. Char can also be charged up with organics. Fish poo works good...

    In-ground soil preparation

Just a few thoughts on growing in the ground: Digging a hole the size of a bus and filling it with branded potting soil from a big box store makes great groundhog habitat. Raised beds may be warmer in the spring but the ground is warmer in the fall. In sand, top dress your organics. In clay...

Health Canada reports "concerning increase in homegrown cannabis"

We could use the same points brought forth by the article to say that homegrown cannabis is the preferred choice over LP grown cannabis according to the market. Our data is conclusive. Blah blah blah. Did I hear Shopper’s Drug Mart whining now? The irony, lol.

    soil and heavy metals..

It’s my understanding the plant can accumulate flouride to toxic levels, yet I have never see a line for flouride on cannabis test results. I just find that odd that it is not tested for. Good luck with your project.

    soil and heavy metals..

Looking at your water report you can remove flouride by reacting it with limestone. I never see flouride tested in cannabis, I was under the impression the plant would accumulate it to toxic levels given the chance. If you boil your soup with that water it will also concentrate the arsenic.

    soil and heavy metals..

Arsenic can be removed from water using iron as a medium. Google some studies, it’s often done with rusty nails, etc.

    Never buy Government weed.

Canadians will gladly pay more for everything and even defend it. Then accept regulation that prevents them from participating in the market themselves. At least some of them.

    Never buy Government weed.

A comment worth repeating. The stores will not do great. But the distributers will. In Ontario the OCS cannot lose, after all it is the Canadian way to have everything controlled by the few. Fuels, groceries, goods. It’s also the reason that everything costs so damned much in this country.

lol I quit...after 40 years... nothing happened but Liz Benton recently quit weed after smoking it at least once a day for seven years — and

It is a subject worth talking about. Of course it matters how clean our food (and medicine) is. With all the preservatives and gmo wheat in bread these days I tend to eat more oats, barley, rye, rice, etc. Sometimes I bake bread but tbh it takes up alot of time. I’d prefer my burger on a bed...

    Blue Widow phenos

The cut of dinafem blue widow being passed around here is the short indica pheno. It is nice stuff but it has trouble with the humidity outdoors here. There is a taller sativa pheno just curious how common it is in the packs, does anyone have a photo, and is there any other options (prefer f1...

What a thread derail. Since we are on the subject I don’t wash my eggs either. I do check them for freshness before I crack them (float test). Try that with eggs from the store and half will fail. My beef only comes direct from farmers that grow their own feed (pasture, hay, silage, etc)...

Part of the problem with buying organic from a store is that they wash it with chlorinated town water which removes the beneficial microbes. If I buy vegetables I’m looking for a bit of dirt on them, as a sign of quality/freshness. My salad tends to come from the yard, and mostly from wild...

    How’s the outdoor season going?

I would have if it didn’t dip to -8C with snow and wind. I probably should cover because the weather is great again. Covers are a gamble around here with high humidity and lots of mould spores in the air. We grew as a group of neighbours and friends so there is lots of sampling and comparing...

    Never buy Government weed.

@Cannasaurus Rex they all lack substance and accountability, its not doing us any good picking what we see as the lesser evil during each election. We found some decent import hash around the rez shops, by using a loupe and only buying samples if I could see ripe trichromes stuck together...

    Never buy Government weed.

Who picked the number 4 anyways? If a political party ran on the promise to increase it to five would you support them? If a branch broke off and rooted in the ground would it be unlawful? Sure it’s better than it was but now there are seperate lineups for watery beer, shitty weed and soup...

    How’s the outdoor season going?

Banger Haze x Super Silver Haze came down last Friday after two weeks in bright sunshine. It was done throwing pistils and part way through the swell. Very resistant to problems.Golden Tiger by PCK came down the same day. It was swelled with mostly milky trichromes and a few amber. This plant...

I make this Island Dream cbd 1:1 plant into dry sift hash and then I eat the hash. Give these trichromes a month to cure and they will fall like rain. Tastes like incense and spices. We get pollinated by cbd plants now and alot of people grew the seed out. I’ve seen some nice stuff come from...

    How’s the outdoor season going?

I had a look at the red hair yesterday. It had botrytis on four tips and the remaining leaves were turned to leather. It dropped its fans over a month ago. The borers tried to chew into the root crown back in the summer and caused a rot, which had the effect of girdling the plant. It started...
