    Budget 3x3 quantum build 8 qb288 and HLG-240h-48A Under $175

I started with 2 qb288 in my 2x4 but had hot spots. Have since switched to strips in my 2x4. I like being able to run the leds close for efficiency. My 2x4 uses water cooled lights and I keep the temperature between 65 and 70 to grow lettuce.

    Budget 3x3 quantum build 8 qb288 and HLG-240h-48A Under $175

I have considered just using 6 boards running from my HLG-240h-48 but I am not sure if I will get as even of a spread. Testing will tell. I could push 700w through 6 boards to max them out but they would run hot and inefficient. They would flower a 5x5 decently. I am trying for low cost and...

    Bars vs Boards

This is what I will be using in my 3x3 3000k LM281B+ and 660 red. They measure 5% less efficient than lm301b. I purchased the boards for $13 each delivered. I have built with strips and found they produce a hot spot in the center of the mass. I am only going to run these around 280w.

    Budget 3x3 quantum build 8 qb288 and HLG-240h-48A Under $175

Two questions. Which pattern will produce the most even spread? I will get the answer by testing the patterns individually. Does anyone have any suggestions for supplemental lights? The boards are 3000k with 660 Far Red. They will be used full cycle. I am sure they will be fine on there own. I...

DIY HLG 550 Build Help! Not Lighting UP :(

Positive and negative from the driver to positive and negative of each board. Don’t power it up till you have all four boards connected. Put on some sunglasses before you power it up.

    Budget 3x3 quantum build 8 qb288 and HLG-240h-48A Under $175

Building a low budget light that can grow with my needs. My main goal is an even 500+ par across a 3x3 tent. Also wanted it as cheap and as efficient as possible. I came across a deal on some qb288 boards for $13 each shipped to my door. The boards are 3000k with 660 epistar reds. The leds are...

What model is it? May not be worth investing much in it for something else to fail. Personally I would pull the motor and check the brushes in it.

No problem for me. My stomach turns every time someone asks me to weld on something galvanized. Made myself sick as a dog as a teenager welding some galvanized pipe. I will strip the galvanizing back two inches and wear a respirator or positive pressure mask. I stay away from alloys I am not...

If the wheels are turning when you hit the the trigger it’s not the motor. Have you ever replaced the core of the welding lead or the entire welding lead/stinger? Will the feed wheels turn with no wire in it? Parts are available from Amazon and EBay.

I will agree about the HF welders. I learned to tig weld on a $10,000 Miller Dynasty with a water cooled torch. After doing some research I settled on an Everlast Power Tig 185 with analog controls and dual voltage capability. Cost me $800 shipped 6 years ago. It is an inverter welder. 90%...

Thanks I am using the lights in a grow box that needs to stay below 70f. Growing cold weather lettuce for personal use. It is primarily an experiment to see what the minimum electrical input can produce a satisfactory crop.

AC TIG with pure argon shielding gas if you want it welded. Otherwise Drill and bolt. But bolting is only good for a few applications.

I think he is referring to alumiloy. It is aluminum brazing. It is harder to use than a tig welder. Harbor Freight sells a version. I will tell you to not waste your money on that or aluminum stick welding rods. They both produce crappy results.

I have used welding out of need with different projects over the years. I have only been welding Aluminum projects in the last 6 or seven years. AC TIG produces the best aluminum welds for me. The welder and gear can be a considerable investment. Luckily I have lots of friends that need...

Max I will run them is 40w strip. I want to keep this box running around 70 degrees growing lettuce for testing the efficiency as a whole system. It is in an in unisulated shed and will be run sealed with Co2 enrichment.

Six vertical flood tables on one pump?

You need flow restriction on your lower tables. You can use valves or plugs with various size hole drilled in them. Try plugging all your lower tables and see if the sump pump floods your highest table.

Yes I use a kill-a-watt meter. I get 168w from my hlg120h. I believe it is accurate because the par #s and efficiency are within normal ranges. Will have to borrow one from my buddy to verify.

The bottom half of the box is a deep freezer. This is my cold grow box for lettuce. I also have a 2x2 hot box for peppers. I live in Virginia so I am currently not allowed to grow anything useful. When the time comes I have an 8x12 space at my mini farm that has a split ac and heat pump to get...
