My First Grow - Sunset Sherbet

So, it's been a while since I updated. It's now day 47 of flower, and my plants have been through the wringer. Right after the last posts, a member here spotted the early signs of overfeeding, and I backed off to straight water for a while. Singed tips showed up with a day or two after the...

Should i trim my fan leaf tips during early flower?

How do you know he hasn't done any research? It's quite an assumption. Either way, chiding someone to "do their research" when they are, in fact, doing their research really doesn't accomplish much, you know?

Should i trim my fan leaf tips during early flower?

Has it occurred to you that asking experienced growers for advice is, in fact, a form of research? Besides, there's a ton of conflicting information out there about growing cannabis, and especially about defoliation. Having an actual conversation about a topic can be quite enlightening.

    FML - Aphids(?) Day 37F

What's the best course of action to tackle these little assholes? They are concentrated to one area of one plant, and haven't gotten heavily infested just yet. I removed all of the affected fan leaves I could find, but how can I keep my plants safe until harvest?

My First Grow - Sunset Sherbet

The Sunset has recovered from her late watering and pruning. I decided to go ahead and supercrop the main tops to give the smaller ones a chance to fill out the canopy. Here's the before and after from this morning. Before: After:

    Flowering advice?

My understanding was that they can build up and harm the plant, so I was just trying to minimize that. I'm trying to learn, same as everyone else. I've been reading from a lot of different sources, and may well be getting bad information or drawing the wrong conclusions. If my reasoning here...

    Flowering advice?

That particular pic in the first was taken yesterday after missing a watering and a bunch of pruning. This is the same plant this morning after a chance to recover - should I still be concerned? I think that it looks like the symptoms you've pinpointed may have improved, but I could well be wrong.

    Flowering advice?

I've never said "I know what I'm doing." In fact, I would be the first to tell you it's the opposite. I was legitimately asking for your reasoning above, and didn't get a serious response. If there's a reason I should or shouldn't be doing something, or if the plant is unhealthy, I would like to...

    Flowering advice?

Why not? I'm trying to minimize the amount of fertilizer salts left in the soil as best I can.

    Flowering advice?

I've just switched my lights over to 12/12, and I need to know how to handle the next few weeks in terms of feeding and lighting. The plants are Sunset Sherbet and Vanilla Kush, both Indica dominant in appearance to my novice eye. I don't know how much stretch to anticipate, or how much I need...

My First Grow - Sunset Sherbet

Today is (finally) the day! Both plants are growing beautifully, and displaying female preflowers. The lights will shut off at 8pm tonight, and they won't come back on for 12 hours. I came in this morning to find that the Vanilla Kush has responded to her new environment positively, growing up...

Is this something to worry about?

My cloth pots seem to hold a fair amount of water, but it's consumed quickly. It's very easy to lift them and tell if they need to be watered - the difference in weight after watering is significant. I usually put in a little over a gallon (4-4.5 liters) and only get about a half cup of liquid...

Is this something to worry about?

I meant to add that she's a Sunset Sherbet, 8 weeks into veg, and about to be flipped. She's planted in a 5 gallon with FFOF/Perlite. Currently I'm watering 4-4.5 liters every other day with various nutes and liquid amendments. (this particular pic I was 12 hours late, so 2.5 days since the last...

Is this something to worry about?

Lifted my pot up, and the riser came with it. When I looked closer, this is what I found: Guess I should up the watering a bit. At least the roots look nice and healthy!

Oregon Wine - Wavy Flower Company

A reddit post by this breeder caught my eye, but I haven't been able to find too much information about the strain "in the wild." Has anyone grown Oregon Wine, or anything else from Wavy Flower Company?

I didn't have any on hand, and I was trying to avoid ordering yet another bag of amendments. Do you think it needs it? I want to keep it simple and was hoping that casings would be redundant with everything else.

My First Grow - Sunset Sherbet

Minor Updates, and a new plant in the flowering tent! The Sunset Sherbet continues to do great! It's thriving with the current feed regimen, so I'll keep that up until it's time to start transitioning to a flowering nutrient scheme. The plant is getting huge - leaving it to veg for a couple of...

What is the best soil to use?

Are you in a house or apartment living situation? If you have a decent amount of space, you can mix up your own soil. Just buy dry amendments (I like Down to Earth brand) and mix it up yourself! You don't have to pay a premium for good soil.

How much kelp meal and dolomite should I be adding? I have the dolomite, was planning on half a solo cup's worth for the batch. Should I do more?
