    For beginners wanting to learn

I started growing a year and a half ago. I wanted to learn everything I could as fast as I could. There were a few good resources that helped. One of them that I found very earlier on was the Cannabis Cultivation and Science Podcast by Tadd Hussey. I purchased the organic amendments I needed...

    First living soil grow

Platinum Kush Breath Remix from In House Genetics Mind Flasher from Solfire gardens Crescendo x Grampas Stash from Ethos I'm very excited about this grow. I've had a handful of successful grows using bottled nutrients and soil, but I've researched and learned and gotten some help from KiS...

Could you help me figure out if this plant is done

It doesn't look done to me yet. I don't want to cut it yet, but when I look at the trichomes they're at least 15-20% amber. She keeps spitting out new hair. My light is 18+ inches away and the temps have not ever got above 82°. Would you chop her?

Is it okay to trim over time?

I got behind on trimming during veg and they went into 12/12 with no defoliation. I did my best to wait until after stretch to take anything off, but I did take a few leaves off the bottoms to open it up to help with watering. After 3 weeks in 12/12 I did a decent defoil and pruned the lower...

Can thirst cause the leaves to look like this?

They're all drying at different rates and the middle one needs to be watered. I've never seen them curl up like this though.

Can I use this product without killing microbes in my soil?

I've been hammering away and reading a lot of these links to articles on here. It's really been extremely helpful in trying to learn organic farming. I'm making the switch to "living soil" and I've got a product I've was using previously to growing organic that's not OMRI listed but I'm...

Is, getting a little run off every time I water going to achieve a much leaching as 1 or 2 big flushes would?

For instance, if I got a total of 5 gallons runoff throughout an entire grow am I removing the same amount of salts as if I ran that 5 gallons through all at one time? In a way I would think I'd remove more build up doing it slowly over time because the concentration of salts coming out of a...

Anyone ever used or use a Microbiometer?

Is it an unnecessary gadget? I've been doing some reading about it, but it's so hard to sift between advice that's being paid for by the company. I just real peoples experience with the thing. If anyone even uses it. This is it https://microbiometer.com/

Can anyone help me identify this bug?

It's on a seedling. I just posted about these eggs I found in a bag of soil I bought. Now there's webbing and a slug looking thing. I could only see it with the microscope and only bc it moved. I thought it was water or something. But the fucker moved. Can anyone tell what this is. My...

This is going to sound ridiculous but does the sensor for the heat mat go into the soil?

The seeds have already germinated but I just got the mat and I figured it's winter and I'd like to give the seedlings a little heat. 75-80°. They're in solo cups right now. Does the probe go into the soil? Any videos I watched they were using seedling trays with covers and they taped it to...

Has anyone ever seen or used Hydrock in their living soils?

Here's a link. http://www.proscapesdirect.com/hydrocks.html I'm still learning about gardening in general. It says it's inert, does that mean it's considered organic? I wasn't going to use it for pot, just my garden. I was looking for some other people opinion. Maybe people who know more...

I found these in a bag of Fox farm happy frog. It doesn't look like fungus, it looks like eggs.

I'm sure it could be fungus but it looks like it could def be eggs too. The bag sat inside for about 4 months, unopened. Anyone got any ideas? I contacted them, they replied with a copy and paste about fuzzy white mold, but it's clearly not fuzzy.

Those that collect rain water for irrigation, do you filter it?

I've read online that you both need to filter and don't need to filter. I'm using it for my pot plants so I figured I'd ask pot growers. I don't mind getting a filter I just don't know how much I need or want to filter out.

Has anyone ever heard of or used Maxmicrobe or Myco Chum?

I got these free samples today when I visited the only hydro store in my state. I was pretty excited to find it and it's only an hour from home. He gave me a few different samples of products that basically look like they're microbe food. I've not yet stated growing with living soil, but the...

Is the pumice/lava rock i can get from a landscape supply store suitable for a living soil?

I am basically going to get the tail end of the pile. I'm going to look at it Monday to see what size the chunks are. Is would this be OK to use as erration in a living soil? What is the ideal size for the pieces of pumice that I would want?

Does this look like K deficiency?

I'll give you all the info you need if you wanna help. But I've been looking stuff up and with the info I have in my head of this grow I think K makes sense. Plus it looks like pictures I see of K deficiency. But I don't know too much, I'm just kinda reaching around in the dark here. Here's...

I just found some really dark rich soil loaded with worms and other very small insects behind my neighbors barn

I just wanted to share this with somebody who might care. My neighbors have kept horses and a barn full of rolls of hay for 25 years. The back door of that barn is open and the horses stand there and eat from the rolls of hay. So for 25 years hay and horse manure have been stomped into the...
