Molasses is fine, I used 2 tablespoons per gallon on my grow and everything turned out okay. Went heavy on it too, used it with every watering. Hope this helps.

Hey Doe, me and my buddy ended up just using a Brita water filter the whole grow 1/2 a gallon at a time, a bit impractical for a grow the size of yours but maybe a last resort solution, cheap too.
