Okay, so you have a HPS+MH light kit? That allows you to switch the bulbs out for vegetative/flowering stages. If you bought this type of system then yes you can swap the bulbs around, just make sure to flip the switch on the ballast (mine has a HPS/MH switch) just dont throw in different size...
