You can use the 430 in a 400watt light,It will not use all of the 430 watts,just 400watts.I would use the HPS all the way to finish.Then later on get a conversion bulb that is 400watts.I myself dont like used lighting,you dont know if its working to its full potential or not.But thats just me.PEACE
