pinch them off will cause less stress and what your saying i believe is called lollipopping look it up. I think you should pinch them off because ur plant is using energy to save them when that energy could be going to your main cola or cola's but pic would help

No nutes yet in 2 gallon pots water every 5 to 7 days once a inch give or take is dry im using organic soil with around 30% perlite
