The technique itself seems to be problematic.. You can't run a decent DWC with soil. the soil zone will be flooded AF and the plant will die. The root zone in the DWC basket ( with clay pebbles ) should stay dry when the roots zone are well developed. A good way to start seeds or clones in DWC...

They are quite easy to clean, first you should brush the crap under the sink and then let them dry 2-3 days, they will work like a brand new. No need to use soap or cleaner.

Feminized seeds are more likely to Herm, I prefert to deal with male pollen,. The major major cause of hermification are by far the classical light leak. especially with grow-tents. I Had issues only with the Expedition Line.
