So, you’re running 3 X400 watt hps lights, 1200 watts power usage. The plants are still receiving whatever lumens a 400 produces, maybe a little more where the light intersects. But swap those lights out with 2 X600 watt hps, less canopy coverage, but tighter buds than the 400’s. That make sense ?

No, it doesn’t. It’s still 300w intensity wise, but by adding a second one it just gives you more canopy coverage.
