1000 HPS VS SolarStorm 880

the question here isn't which is better, but simply is the led even comparable to the 1000 HPS as far as electric bill/cost of light/yield/heat control no arguements please simply opinions of personal experience.
Thank you.

I have the 440 version and I love it. The one thing I will say is that even the best LED will not compete with an HID for penetration. Supplemental side lighting is a good option if you don't plan on going scrog. They are definitely cooler and easier in the electric bill.

If you don't mind me asking what's the best harvest you've had with that 440, as far as weight ?

Not there yet. If I had to make a comparison though, I'd say it performs at least on par with a 400 watt HID. Probably not up to 600 watt HID performance levels, but it is doing as well or better than any 400 I've used.

I have 2 solarstorm 440s, and 2 solarflare bloom boosters. to cover my 5x5 flowering space. I love them. I also have another solarflare full cycle for veg... lol big fan

the solarflare 220 flowers 2x2 @1.8 AMPS
The solarstorm 440 flowers 3x3 w/ UVB @ 3.9 AMPS
the solarstorm 880 will flower a 4x4 w/UVB @7.6 AMPS

1000 Wat setup Pulls (i think) @ 7 amps but on ignition 9 amps. Plus air cooling the light and maybe an air conditioner depending on the climate of wherever you live. so it adds up.

I have never used anything but LED for my grows. but i have herd that a 1000 watt can cover a 5x5 but 2 600's are more ideal ( correct me if im wrong)

Depending on your space different combs of lights will fill it better.
so if u have a 4x4 the 880s dope. but if u have a 5x5 it gets hard to fill the 1 extra square foot all the way around.. tis why i got 2 440s and 2 220s.

If you are not concerned on dropping thousands on lights. LEDs are awesome.
but I understand that HPS is still the way to go.. you will yield a little less so i have heard with LED. but in my opinion the quality will still be there ( depending on the grower)

so in conclusion, unless you are limited on how many amps you can draw from wherever you are growing go HPS.

Good luck with everything
