1000 watt in 4x4 tent

Anyone have any ideas how to cool it down a lil more? The light is setup on a 6" vent. Tent around 84 room the tent is in is 72. My inline fan is only pushing about 200cfm. Do you think a stronger fan would help? Anyone running a 1000 watt in a 4x4 tent?

use insulated ducting, if any. insulate your hood. bigger fan. chiller. bring in cooler air into the tent.

you can move your can fan lower down the air stream towards the filter. inbetween the filter and the hood. that will allow for easier air cutting by the can fan. a fan with more cfm is probably the trick.

i run 2 1000w in a 4x6 area a little bigger iknow but 400cfm keeps it cool as long as the room temp outside the tent is 62\68 400 blows out and 75cfm blows in at all times. scratch the mud

i never used a fan cooled hood but if some one could clarify something for me that would be great. that diagram has a carbon filter on it and is that to keep the co2 in and do u have to ever replace it

the carbon filter is to keep the smell OUT. and yes it has to be replaced bout once a year or when it starts to stink again. I dont use Co2,

Ok well smell isn't a problem i run my scrubber inside the entire room not just the tent. i also have a vent fan up top with ducting pushing the cool air from outside the tent into the middle of the tent. I have the vented tube setup independently since I make homemade c02 from yeast. How cool does your room stay compared to the inside of your tent

The temps stay right about the same inside the tent and in the room that its in. It definitely heats the whole room up a little though. The little inline fan at the bottom is always blowing in cool air from outside the tent while the hot air is being pushed out the top. There are two reasons I have the carbon filter inside the tent. 1st is that I want to filter the air before it goes into the room that it is in. That way none of the smelly air leaks out through the windows. I need new windows. I live in an older house and I think smells would leak out too easily :( and 2nd is that I would need a much bigger carbon filter and fan to clean all the air in the room, as its much bigger than the size of the tent.

I don't recommend attaching the filter to the same fan that's cooling the light. You lose too much cfm..get a seperate fan for the filter if you need one.

To solve that problem, just get a little bigger fan, like I did. It saves you from having to buy two can fans. I was actually very surprised by how cool the tent stays. Another reason the tent stays so cool is because its all reflective. Heat is generated by light absorbtion, so if there is little to absorb the light, then temps wont get very high. Think of it like an asphault road on a sunny day. Black absorbs the heat best. You could walk barefoot on concrete no prob, but if u try to step on the asphault, OUCH!!!

Yeah, this guy knows what he's talking about. +rep I dont know about the asphault liner :) but put the filter inside the tent where it's supposed to be. There are several reasons he didnt list but the bottom line is:

1. The filter belongs high in the tent.
2. Vents open at the bottom of the tent.
3. Use an enclosed hood for the light and pass the air through it.
4. 250-400 cfm fan placed outside the tent.

smelly plants & garage air --> filter --> hood --> fan --> roof exhaust

Here is a very good guide: http://www.jasons-indoor-guide-to-organic-and-hydroponics-gardening.com/exhaust-fan-setup.html

Don't use Co2 ulsess you're running an Enclosed System (NOT exhausting to outside air)

EDIT: I'm also doing a 4x4 tent w/ 1000watt. Im 2 days into 12/12. Check my journal, 2 months ago I struggled with all of the questions you're asking yourself.

I run a 1000 in a 5x5 tent with temps around 76-78.. 6 inch ho can fan on top sucking through the hood and then a can 66 hangin up top. Fan is even speed controlled to half power and only 1 vent open at bottom.

Are you using a 1000 watt system too? Because that's a whole new ballgame when you step up to the 1k watter.

If you're rock'n a 400, no problem, but 1000 is serious power/heat. Plus, you may not want the air circulating as fast as you'll need to and still keep things cool.

You can always start with one fan and upgrade if you need to, i guess...although, you'll probably need a fan the size of a John Deer lawnmower tire.

I run c02 in my tent. I have the light on a separate fan pulling air thru a sealed hood. I have my exhaust and c02 on seperate timers. co2 kicks on exhaust kicks off. co2 kicks off exhaust kicks on. Took me a while to sync the two up but it works great. Temps stay around 75 or 76 with a 1000 watter. exhaust goes up the chimney. I wont use my filter until 3 or 4 weeks into flowering but all that is needed is to hook it up.two loops of zip ties hold the filter top center in tent. hope this helps!

yeh i am, i have 1000 in a tent and another 1000 in a dressing room

i keep the edge door on the tent wide open. im home all the time, then i just velcro it shut... i also have a vent on the top, if i need it... but its usually velcroed shut...

but if yer tryin to tell me, "wait i aint home all day" then just leave the top vent open and the lights off, no light will get in... bc u aint home,

if youi ARE home then keep the whole tent door open til 6pm

If you read my posts, then you will see that I am using a 1000w. And like I said before, its relatively easy to keep these systems cool, as long as you got a decent exhaust fan. I think my fan is rated 170 cfm. Which is hardly the size of a lawnmower tire. I use it to cool the light and run the filter. Absolutely no problems with heat. I keep the light less than 1 foot from the tops. It stays about 75 in my room and inside the tent. A lot of heat in most setups is generated by light absorbtion. When u have a tent like this, There is VERY little light absorbtion, so there is little heat to contend with.
