Will it be detrimental if I overdo the dark period some days? Will it take longer for them to bud when not on a strict cycle like that?

Its not going to matter that much, the longer you have them in the dark the more the roots will develop. Good Luck!

ur plants can go hermie if u start fucking with the light timeings..u want that shit to turn on at 7 and off at 7...or on a 5 off at 5 w/e u do..no bull shit an hour more or less!..go buy a timer..hustle ur boys for a few bucks!
