1st dwc grow in the process Need some help!

I need some help here. Basically i am on my 2nd grow and so far so good. After my seedlings sprouted i decided to try one in DWC. ok so here is the set up:
1 5 gallon bucket
1 air motor
1 air rock
using gravel rocks
using hydro phonics flora gro 2-1-6
(only could get one suppose to have three, i guess, was not sure if he was trying to rip me so i took one)

I used Distilled water and the roots look great. The roots, when i put it in looked basically like one long root about 2.5 inchs now they are everywhere and put on a about another 2 inchs of length. So i do know that they are growing and spreading. My baby looks sad though, But the undergrowth has skyrocketed. the top outside has slowed but everthing underneath has gone nuts. Any help would be nice thanks.

O yea i am using a 450 hps light and keep my ph about 6.5 and my temp around 74. the light runs 24/7. THANKS!

Looks a bit droopy. Perhaps a larger air pump to oxygenate the water more. I use a commercial grade air pump and the water looks like a hot tub with the jets on high.

Thanks! I picked up the pump at petco for like 7 bucks i think i will try a new one. any more suggestions. thanks again

Just keep the ph between 5.5 - 6.5 and go easy on the nutes and you'll be fine.

sounds good thanks! one more qustion if you dont mind. I have a few light leaks and i cant really cover them due to my ghetto net box. how often will i have to change my water due to algea? thanks

Algae shouldn't be a problem if you get a larger air pump to keep the water moving better and you keep your res temp below 70. I change my water weekly, but let it go 10-14 days from time to time. That is up to you. Algae will form more easily in stagnate, warm water. Never had a problem with it myself.

Good luck! Just keep it simple and don't over think things. I fried a few babies of mine with too much nutes too soon. Always error on the side of caution. My plants are now over 5 feet tall with 3 weeks left to go and I can tell you that the reward is well worth the effort!

thanks! But I only have 1 dwc going. If i can get this down to the T then i will have more so for now 1 dwc and a few soil. I think my soil ladies look great and they are on the way to a great yeild. so i hoope i pull this one together.
