ok this is the second time i .have dried weed and both times there was no smell. let me run you guys through what i did.
1st time: the weed had 0 smell during growing even during flowering btw. so i chopped cut off all leaves fan and sugar, and hung them up to dry for a week, then i put them in paper bags for maybe 5 days, and then into jars until it was all smoked. no smell

2nd time: cut off all fan leaves, 3 days later cut off sugar leaves, after hanging for a week, after they were paper bagged for 2 weeks and no smell has come up so far. My reasoning for this one is that the buds are extremely leafy because the buds didnt fill out all the way and the plants had an extreme amount of leaves, so the leaf smell might be overpowering the bud smell, or maybe because i havnt jarred them yet, does your guys weed smell like weed before you jar them? because i think it should maybe even just a little. anyway comment if you think i did anything wrong, or any other reason why. because i have another batch of extremely bomb bud drying and dont want to fuck it up.

Yea curing for awhile stinks em up good...You may be over-drying them beforehand too...

You only wanna dry em until they're slightly crispy, and have bendy stems (no snapping). Then jar them for a few weeks, opening up once a day to release excess moisture...after that keep the jars closed for another 2-4 weeks. Be sure to check on them for any mold smell/growth.

but do you really think over drying could result in no smell, and plus the 2nd shit was gooey as hell, couldnt even roll a j without the shit sticking all over the place and giving my fingers a coat of resin lol.

Lol. But, to the matter at hand. Hang for a few days(dep. on climate), with no fan leaves, then paper bag(keep the sugar leaves)for a few days, then cut sugar leaves right before you jar(releases terpenes{Flavors, smells}) and thatll help to make the buds smell more dank, that is if the buds quality/genetics allows it. Did this time around smell during flowering? is it sinsemilla?

ya the 2nd tiime had smell, and for the most part most of the sugar leaves are still on it, so im going to start curing tonight. Also i have a tiny dehumidifier running, not powerful only thing i can do with it is turn it on, but do you think that could've over dried them?

Readup on how to dry and cure your cannabis.

You don't want them to be bone dry when you jar them or it would be pointless curing, curing is a very slow drying process which brings out the dank smell that some bud can have.

yes, do you know what the relative hum. level is?
i had a hygrometer, but it broke, and i cant afford another one, but when it was working the rh was around 60% with nothing in the closet and i think it brought it down to about high low to mid 50s but tht was when i was growing in tht closet, so it might have more of a drastic change even though there is wet bud in there which could keep it up.

let em dry til theyre a little crisp, trim sugar leaves off then cure
ill do tht, do you suggest trying to add moisture back to the buds i have right now, bc i have 12 ounces of it and want a smell lol. or should i just wait a week to see if the smell comes back during curing

First, wait to see, for two to 3 weeks. How dry are they now? And if no smell returns, you can use a tiny piece of a damp paper towel, with pure water. or try adding a lemon or orange peel, it will give it a citrus smell and flavor
