Ok, I have a question.. working with a 10.5 ft^2 area, 52.5 ft^3, if I were to run a 400w hps in it, will heating be an issue if I'm running 2 fans rated for 130 cfm and hopefully a cool tube for the HPS.. Thanks :joint:

this all depends on the intake air temp.
i have a grow tent 39" x 39" x 79" and i run a 1000watt HPS in it cooled with a cool tube.
the cool tube is vented via 1 250 cfm 6inch inline fan and the tent itself is cooled by a 424 cfm 6inch inline fan .
my intake air temp is 77 degrees and my tent stays right at the same 77 degrees as my intake air.
so as long as you have reasonably cool intake air you should have no issues running the 400 watt light in your 10.5 sqft

yup i was reading your post in the controversial LED post. one day it will be viable at a reasonable cost but until prices come down on the higher quality LED were stuck with HID lighting.
i just wish companies would stop selling sub standard LED making crazy claims about them because it really gives a bad reputation to a lighting source that someday will no doubt be every bit as good as HID

Its actually surpassed the quality of HID's, testimonies and side by side comparisions have been said to get more trichs and resin from LED's than HID's but you are right, until the price comes down, there are no commercial values >.< Soon! hopefully soon! 1000w grows at the price of running 2 computers

The two fans sounds good. The big thing though is to make sure you can vent the air out and have a fan hooked up to draw cool/outside air into the grow box. If you just have the two fans running with out this, your grow box will heat heat up pretty damn quick, as th efans will be just circulating the warm air around. I have a 3.5' x 3.5' grow box with a 400 hps light and a vent in the top with an exhaust fan sucking outside air in and a regular fan blowing over the girls and it works fine...74 to 83 degree temps as the exhaust fan is set to come on every 15 minutes.

I'll be running a temperature unit, it will control the fan's speed and on/off based on temperature in the box, thanks for the input, I got a 400hps system with a cool tube and 6" inline

which fans? the fan for the cooltube should be on for all of the time your light is on - just put them on the same timer.

as said earlier, if one of your two other fans is venting air in and out then you are ok. if they are both just circulating air they will not help with temp or bringing in fresh air.

the problem with running your fans on a thermostat is that you want airflow for fresh air as well as cooling. you need to bring in fresh co2 via the atmosphere or added if you want your plants to grow.
