70w HPS + CFLs Question

Hey guys, so I'm about ready to start my grow and here's my question. Ill have a small grow, using rubbermaid containers stacked on top of one another and I was planning on just using a 75/25 ratio of 6500/2700 for veg and sprouting then flipping that for flower.

I've been thinking though the past few hours. Since I wouldnt be flowering for nearly 7-8 weeks and using the LST method, I was wondering if I saved up some money and bought myself a 30$ 70w HPS security light at home depot and just converted it to a grow light and used it in combination with like 300w 2700K CFL's for flowering to help increase my end yield.

I'm tight on cash right now so maybe in 4 weeks I'll be able to get one and use CFLs for now, but what do you guys think?

If my exhausting is right, and it only being a 70w, would it be cool to use in a rubbermaid setup?

Is it a generally good idea and train of thought?

Once again I appreciate any and all feedback!!!

RIU rocks!!

Hey man. I know tonnes on lighting and spectrum. And I've owned one ow those 70W hps Security lights form Home Depot.

The size of your plants ROOT SYSTEM has more of an effect on YEILD than light per say. When it comes to small box grows. The only thing you look to gain for your 70 watt hps is more potent buds, maybe more crystal production.

The Heat is pretty managable on them also....but i find it hard to say weather it's worth it. The light intencity is low on them. But it will help.

It makes enough of a difference i guess to wanna see what larger HPS systems will do. I immeadiately moved up to 400W And converted a closet. And it's perfect.

Roots grow the plant big but light makes the buds dense. More light is almost always better but the diminishing returns are steep. That is, each watt you add has a little less impact than the one before.
