8x10 room. Cmh setup design

Hello all,

I have a 8'x10' flowering room and want to get into cmh/lec light setup. How many 315w can i fit there? I want to be able to pull maxium weight as possible with a given space. I was thinking about growing with hps but changed my mine to lec. With hps, 1x1000w hps covers 4x4 area so 2x1000w will cover 4x8 right! So 4x1000w will cover 8x8, and which means ill have 2 x 8 walking path area. Dont worry. Im a small guy!! Lol

Since the coverage of the 315w cmh is different then hps, i want to know what the maxium cmh light l can put in the room and how i should set it up. Come on guys. Help me design.

4 lights under 3x10 area times 2? which means 8 lights will cover 6x10. Ill have a 2x10 walkway in the middle? Is 8 lights enough?

Or

3 lights under 3×8. 6 lights will cover 6x8. Walkway will be 4x8. Dam. Thats lot of room. This one seems like im not utilizing my space for maxium weight. Is 6 lights even enough?

Let me know what you think. Open to any opinion. Need your help squad.

I ran a couple cycles with cmh in a 6x8 and ran 3 400w retros in hoods. The room was 6 deep and 8 wide. Set up the lights 3 wide and had two rows of 4 plants in 10g pots. Vegged for about a month and then flipped. The.plants filled the space nicely, but I'm sure i wasn't at Max light efficiency. My temps were pretty much the same as running 2 600w hps in the same space. I usually get 1.75-2 off my 600s and I got around 675g's off the 3 cmh lights. I may have been able to top that if id kept using them or used different strains. But i got smaller Flowers overall with The cmh light and they seem to kick ass in veg, so im using them to veg now and put the 600s back in the flower space.

Thanks for reply. So you put 3 x 315s in 6 x 8 room? If so, in terms of heat, you said it was comparable to 2 x 600w hps. Air cooled or non air cooled hood?

Sorry for late response. I used 400w cmh bulbs. They were retrofit mogul bases that run off of a 400w magnetic hps ballast. And my hoods were air cooled yes.

My best run in my old 6x8 was with 4 315s with a 600 air cooled hps in the middle.
