Adding Cal-Mag to hempy bucket feeding?

Hello,

I have some Alaskan Ice clones in Hempy Buckets, approximately 2 weeks in veg showing magnesium deficiency on some of the older leaves.

The clones are showing decent growth, and the newer leaves are not showing deficiencies.

I decided to add Cal-Mag to my normal feeding, which is currently General Hydroponics Flora Series, 5-5-5 (5ml per gallon of FloraGro, FloraMicro, and FloraBroom), and was curious how I should go about doing it?

Do I need to cut down on other nutes when I add the Cal-Mag, and how much Cal-Mag should I add per gallon?

Has anyone had any experience with using GH 3 Part along with Cal-Mag in a hempy bucket or hydro setup?

Also would there be any benefit to adding Superthrive to my veg feeding? I was told by a friend that it would help with nutrient uptake and overall plant health. Is there any truth to this?

Thanks in advance for any and all input

Nutrient lockout. I thought for GH and vegging it's a 3-2-1 ratio of Gro/Micro/Bloom.
Yeah I add the MicroGro first, to avoid nutrient lockout (as was instructed on the bottle). I read that Hempy himself says to use 1-1-1 GH 3 Part for veg, so I was going by that and since switching to GH3 Part the new growth looks perfect. However I am always open to new ideas on how to improve my results!

I believe the deficiencies where caused by the fact that for the first week I was using Fox Farm Grow Big that was formulated for soil, and not hydro.

Hi mate, I am currently in a similar situation. Just started flowering in 100% perlite hempys and throughout veg had troubles with magnesium def. I begun using epsom salts, rather than cal-mag as my water is hard; high ca locking out the mag. I believe it is improving.

I do not think you have to adjust your nutes in relation to cal-mag, the ppms of cal-mag are low and only relative to cal-mag i do believe..

If its a magnesium deficiency though, perhaps epsom salts would be better? are you using r/o water?

maybe ph lockout is causing some of the deficiencies? do you let it swing? what is your ph?

What medium are you growing in?

Hi NS420,

I use GH Flora in my Hempy's, WORKS GREAT! ... I use the Plant Magic 'Magne/Cal' brand. .... I use it at 0.5ml per litre. Its great stuff to add. I add it after my 3 part.

Thanks for the replies but I posted this topic 3 years ago... since then I have switched to Lucas Formula and have not had a single deficiency issue since.

Hey buddy...I am using the GH micr/flora/bloom.. i was just using the micro and flora as directed but ended up with some yellow plants.. flushed like crazy for about 4 days.. then i started reading about what the lucas formula is http://lucasformula.com/....well i made a mixture and it seemed fine...at first.. now i have yellow leaves again ..its not ph.. I use tap water and i use an additive to remove the chlorine and chloramine..I just cant seem to get this feeding down... THe plants are still growin.. i topped them and they are doing fine..i dont know whats happening..
