im building an aeroponics system, its almost done, i had one question regarding the spraying.

should the sprayers be constantly spraying? or should they be on a timer?

I would have the sprayer going 24/7 although I have heard of people running them on a timer. I figure get as much aero spray in there as you can.

If you were to put them on a timer schedule I don't know what that schedule would be.

I don't know if anyone here knows forsure but i can give you my 2 cents.

Its better to have the pumps running 24/7 why?

1. When a pump turns on just like a ac unit it takes up alot of power so the amount of time that your pump having to turn on within 24 hr period would take up more power then a pump running constantly at a low amperage.

2. Roots do suck up all the water/oxygen they can and when a large plant with a large root system sucks up all the water already within 5 min(your pumps turn on every 15 min), it leave your roots vunerable to becoming dry and getting rot.

3. Mist is a combination of water and oxygen, not stagnet water that has no oxygen in it so you won't have to worry about root rot.

did you not just read the previous post above?

dont put it on a timer

for one it takes too much water, power and electricity to turn the pump ON and off rather than leaving it on for 24/7

plus if you leave it on 24/7 im pretty sure the plants will grow faster because of the highly oxygenated water.

third, lets say you fuck up and the timer isnt set right...or the timer doesnt kick in...yer fucked unless you keep an eye on yer garden at all times because you only have 15 mins to move in aero.....or its dead period.

just put AT least one air stone, if not 2 and keep the pump running...trust!

thanks!

i will be starting a grow journal soon and will keep you updated on how everything goes.

for sure leave it on 24/7. you will be amazed at the speed and strength of your plants. i have seen it so many times and it still blows my mind to see how fast they grow and how the root structure just explodes. it would like to check out your grow journal as well. good luck.

p.s. are you using any particular strains

the strains i will be using are mixed, a friend (who grows commercially in canada) is sending me like 30 seeds, 10 each of different strains.

he said jamaican strains, hazes, and afghanis, im pretty stoked.

THis is completly wrong, the pump doesnt take that much power to turn on and off, unless ur doing it like every 5 min. Although it is tru u will grow MUCH faster with it on 24/7. U could probly put it on for about 4 hrs. in the morning and 4 hrs. in the afternoon.

I agree 24/7... I have a drip system and my airpump and water pump were on a timer and when I changed them to 24/7 they started growing like mofo's

actually it takes or draws more power when you keep turning it on and off then it would when its ran 24/7 and it also sucks alot of water too when you first turn on the pump...

What are you spraying, your RW or roots.

You Don't need to spray the RW 24/7 unless you want overwatered
plants. I assume you are using the 1" cubes...just set
the 15 min. timer at a few times a day to start, and make
sure the medium is always moist, not soaked.

I use an aeroponic system and i let the jets spray while the lights are on. so during 24x7 light cycle, the sprayer runs 24x7. when i switch to 12/12 i run the sprayer constantly while the lights are on and once for about an hour during the middle of the dark period.
