So my 400 hps light was working a couple days ago and i thought to turn it back on today and i plugged it up and it didn't turn on. I need to know what fuse to get amps/volts that will work for my 400hps watt...I took the original fuse out but it had some paper over it and couldn't c if it was blown or not but i think it is...Thanks guys

replace the fuse...A good rule of thumb for estimating is 1 amp per 100 watts of HID lighting. Therefore one could speculate you are pulling 4 amps. You probably did pop a fuse, I wouldn't recommend adding a larger size fuse in your fuse panel, or circuit breaker. You have to verify your wire can accommodate it. I would unlplug whatever else is on the fuse, replace the fuse, plug in only your 400 watt, and see if it powers on. If it does than you did not blow your ballasts, however if you plug it in and it doesnt power on you might want to look into a ballasts repair kit. Your local electrical supply store probably stocks them, or you could Craigslist a new one. I hope it helps...

Or you could just plug the ballast into another plug that is on another breaker/circuit and test it that way.

Well it was working a couple days ago and its been off sense then and decided to turn it back on and it didnt come so i took the fuse out and it was a 6.3/250 and i replaced it with the exact same fuse and it didnt work should i try a lower amp/volts?

It sounds like your ballast needs to be repaired. How long have you had the ballasts for? Is it magnetic? Can you actually hear the buzzing it makes? If its digital...The fan should be going. Lower fuse will not help your situation. Have you tried plugging the ballasts into a different plug? Like one on a different breaker from your fuse panel to make sure that its not the fuse in the panel? Heres some alternatives below.

Call around your city and look for the repair kit...I believe I paid 100 for a kit for a 1000. It was strictly hps but I got my ballasts back running that day.

Hey man so i bought a couple more fuses and shit but they kept blowing so im thinking its the ballast idk...Im prolly going to buy one off of ebay for less than $100. Here's pix of the ballast..

NEVER REPLACE A FUSE WITH ONE OF A HIGHER RATING - EVER!!!

You do mean the fuse in the ballast, right? If it keeps blowing, the ballast needs to be repaired.
