another viable option for led reflectors

I just ran into a salesman I know at a conference and he ways talking about the little cones inside led flashlight. That little chrome reflector.

They accept a 20 mm star and can be had for pennies.

I thought about it and taking it a step further would be using this but tapping the alum heatsink for the correct size threading in the backplate thermal compound the reflector to it then the star to the reflector for a clean look since you can then feed the wires in from the top. All these parts are regular flashlight component and so can be had cheaply from china.

or you could simple drill a .125 inch hole thread the wire threw and thermal comp. The reflector to alum and star to reflectors.
You would just lose a little efficiency of the heatsink doing it this way.

just something else to thin about.

Almost forgot they do make reflectors the correct size to fit 3070 cobs. It's for a bigger "mag-lite" type light which again can be had for $.28 each. A lot better and probably better angles reflective surface then the standard "made for cob/star" reflector.
