"Ask Ed" (Rosenthal)

What's up guys. I like in a state that's quite progressive on its stance on marijuana, and in this, it creates a great business opportunity for those who love the plant. I've decided this year to go to one of the larger seminars, one which has a segment called "Ask Ed" - a session where we're allowed to ask questions to Mr. Rosenthal himself.

Was wondering if anyone in the RIU community had a solid question that we'd like to know the answer to from the original OG himself

Why do pinholes (seam stitches) in a tent cause so much concern for growers when plants grown outdoors experience more light from stars (and much more from moon light)?
That would be because those stars are lightyears away, by the time that light reaches earth it has diminished significantly. The reason it seems brighter outside at night is because your eyes adjust to the low lighting (nightvision). The light that seeps throught the pin holes is strong enough to interupt the night cycle because the light source is only feet away from the tent.

They're also a million times larger/brighter than the room lamp just 20' away. So, it seems like there's a few ways to look at this. I wonder what Ed's opinion is on the topic. (I don't think it matters as much as people say. But, it would be interesting to know if Ed has thought about this topic.).

I sit in my tent until my eyes are adjusted. It seems darker than a moonless night. And, cannabis flowers under moonlight too.

You can understand why I'm perplexed by this since it seems like no more light than star light. I have an inexpensive Lighthouse Hydro tent. You can see some pin holes here and there. (One of the best things to do is lay a length of cardboard over the passive side vents. A lot of light gets through there. I lay cardboard at a 45-degree angle to block direct light hitting the passive vent.).

I'm curious if it really matters. I read a lot of comments that it must be absolutely black. But, that begs the question being asked.

Pinholes don't interrupt the night cycle, I have light leaks everywhere, far more than a pinhole size and it hasn't affected flowering.

Back in the day he was trialling (trying) to feminize his seed, what actual process did he use(I think it was Gibberellic Acid?),

so why did he not reveal his result? ...thanks

Great questions guys! keep em' coming!

Before I go, I'll let you know which ones I chose, and post the answers. If I can get video, I'll do so!

Whats more managable for first time growers? Inside fall-spring grow season or outside spring-fall? I believe the inside fall-spring would be best because you have like 90% chance of not having pest issues unless you are visiting other gardens.

has the chemical makeup and affect of weed changed since the 60's?

I remember weed that just made me laugh a lot and made me hungry.. Now when I smoke I don't feel the same euphoria. Many others have reported the same situation to me.
