babys dying

i have a couple plants about three weeks old and they are getting yellow crusty leaves getting to tall and falling over any ideas on how to save them ?

Have you got any pics? It could be lots of things, so pics would be a big help. Also what set-up are you using, what lights / how many, what sort of soil, have you been feeding them nutes, how often do you water etc? The more info you give the more answers you're likely to get ;)

i live on a farm so i just dug up some of the dirt from the corn field and mixed it with horse shit a couple of them are outside most of the day . i have one inside and i usually water it every day . i read about using piss for the nitrogen and tried that out thats about all.

LOL - You piss in your plants? F--k me man. If I was you I'd start over. But don't waste your time, read the GROWFAQ first - then you'll have at least an idea of what you're doing. Good luck.

If they are too stretched and have weak stems try providing more light, or getting them closer to the light. Also, throw an oscillating fan in there. That will simulate wind and the stems will strengthen up.

I dont do soil, but watering every day seems to me like a lot of watering. From what I understand, on average, people water them about every 3-5 days. I am sure those time frames depend on several other things like pot size, etc.

The plant that is inside...is it under a grow light? It sounds like you are doing a mix so I am curious as to why you are doing it that way.

I heard of using diluted urine for N, but people tend to shit on that idea. I have to tell on myself on this one, but years ago I made a horrible attempt at growing a couple plants. They started looking like crap so I tried this diluted urine method. I have to say that I saw very good results from it. Would I do it today? Nope. I have developed a phobia of pissing in a cup.

I dont know about nutrient ratios for soil in corn fields, nor horse shit. One thing I can say, though, is that pulling soil from outside for an inside plant is probably not the best idea. By the way you describe your grow it sounds like you have a budget of about $0. If that is not the case then I would put a little money into your project if you want to see some good results.

ya not really trying to spend any money on it umm i found some old potting soil in the chicken coop but i dont know how good it is starting 2 new plants with that though so well see ill keep u updated

I know that there are online guides and book on doing a grow with minimal funding. Have you looked at anything like that?

You can get your N from barnyard animal and poultry manure so no need to shit and piss on your plants.

If you have animal bones laying around you can powder them into meal to help add P

K is a little tougher to aquire in a useable, natural form. If you can get granite dust it will help as will

That at least can give some insight on some things you can consider for your main 3 nutrients. I am sure your soil in your corn field has the trace elements in enough quantity. I would probably stay away from "old" potting soil if it has been there for a while in the coup. Granted I dont know the shelf life of potting soil. You wouldn't want mold or anything else like that mixed in with your soil. If your corn field soil works great for your corn and its properly aerated then its something I personally would look at first. You may want to see if you have anything around like perlite or something to help your soil. Are you trying to keep your grow a secret? I ask because I would just grow the plants in with your corn.

o its not my field i just live on the land the farmers come and do all the other shit havent really looked into anything like that thanks for the info

you mentioned mixing the manure in, i live next to a dairy so i stole some manure and mixed it in the soil and it burned my plants all to hell. what you need to do is mix this stuff in a manure tea.(look in the grofaq) because straight manure has to many bad things(salts i think?) in it so it has to be deluted.

they was growing good for the first week or so and then the stem got week and started to fall over yellow leaves and getting crispy at the tips

Good point and idea on the manure thing. I think it also partially depends on what is fed to the stock. In any case, though, the tea thing sounds like a good way to go.

you take the cow manure and put it in pantyhose then you let that "tea bag" soak in a 5 gal bucket of water for like 2-3 days. this leaves you with a "tea" that contains all the good stuff and none of the salts. its in the growfaq

ya thats what i figured but i used a plastic bag poked small holes in the bottom and kept water in it for about a full day

i started out with about 10 and there is only one left he looks healthy losing the first colyteons the other leaves look healthy but it hasent been growing

im growing a new one its growing fine but its leaves arnt growing right and i dont have a camera to show u guys it looks like it has four of the beginning leaves does anybody know if it is like mutated or something?
