I have just one female plant and it already started flowering and making the white pistils but it seems to be growing too tall and not bushy enough. I had to change light fixtures and i still keep the plant at least 5 inches from the plant because it seems to be burning the leaves if i get any closer, i'm only using a 150 watt lamp because thats what was recommended for 1 plant. I water once a day and use the 12 hour light/dark period. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, any help will be GREATLY appreciated :eyesmoke:

Who recommended a 150 watt lamp? You need to take the temp. and it needs to be right where the tallest part of the plant is (5 inches from the light). Sounds like you are burning the tips.

Is the light a hps? A regular bulb? Do you have any type of exhaust? Do you have a termometer? Do you test the ph? What do you add to the water? What temp do you try to keep the grow room?

no its not hps, sites and people said over 250 would be too much for just one plant and im too poor for hps right now :| does it even come in low wattages? is it too late to switch? i keep the room at room temp, about 23 celsius. i add miracle grow to the water, and im pretty sure the pH is fine. thanks bunches.

Over 250 is not too much for one plant.

Be creative. Check bulletin boards at local hyrdo stores that advertize used equipment. Maybe someone would be willing to trade or barter. Don't even think about an hps lower then 400.

Not too late to switch. The room temp should stay below 80 degrees. But what about the temp. that you plant is getting at it's hottest point? You need a thermometer that you can put at that spot. That area should never go beyond 80 degrees either.

Miracle grow is crap. Fox Farm has a very good product. Grow Big.

You really have no idea what the ph is. You need a ph tester. They are inexpensive but VERY handy.

And there is no reason to water every day. In fact, it is counter productive. Go to your local nursery and buy a moisture meter ... only about $6 US. You can pick up a PH meter there too.

Keep reading the posts here on the site. The information is invaluable.

i have a lighting question too. My one plant just died (R.I.P) and i was going to move my other plant to the closet i was using for my old plant. I'm thinking about adding 1 or 2 more CFL's. Will it be to strong or is it ok. they are 25W and 15 watt bulbs. My plant has already started to bud and is on a 9 hours on, 15 hours off cycle.

and yeah u can by metal halide and high pressure sodium lights that work in household sockets for about 20 a piece, but i use 2 4 foot flourescent bulbs one is cool white the other daylight with 2 45 watt cfls hanging beside it.and there about 2 to 3 inches away from plant all around and keep eye on temp so i know its possible
