These are 11 day old babies from bag seed.

They are growin in MG w/ perlite. The bottom of the cups are cut and replaced with a mesh screen with some gravel on it for drainage. They are sitting on a watering mat to encourage thirsty roots to grow down.

The plants are under a 600w MH conversion bulb kept 44" above the plant tops. Temps run 72-78F during the day and hover around 65-70F during the night. Relative humidity is between 60-70% usually in the low 60s sometimes into the high 50s.

It's a first time grow.

How do they look?:-?

Any suggestions?

update: my timer broke... It had been acting funny like not switching on until I hit it a few times, and then later last night I started to notice the smell of burning resistors, so I unplugged it and it was HOT! Trashed it, now I need to go buy a new one or else my light schedule will get all messed up. Right now they are getting 12-16 hours of light a day, I just turn everything on when I get up and off when I go to bed.

Anyone got any suggestions on a high quality timer? It is only needed to run 1 light and 2 fans.

So here is an update w/ pics. It's day 13 after germ and these monsters are blowing up. I transplanted from seed starter cubes to red cups at day 6 and 7 days later I have roots coming out of the cup drains. Got a new timer last night, hope it last longer than a week. The cheapy walmart one almost burned my house down.

I am looking for advice about repotting... like what size pots should I move to, quick draining vs. no-draining pots, if I should transplant two more times (like to a bigger container and then transplant again before flowering?).

You can comment on the babies here in my journal, but please send repotting advice to this thread

What'd ya think?

update - 3 weeks old today. tallest is 7in, shortest is at 3in. Not enough room to keep all the babies and they are still too young to sex.

ok, we made it past the month mark and the babies are in their first week of veg. I'm beginning to encounter my first case of nute deficiency, and one of my phenos is burning in the MG soil. Culled the garden down to 8 big plants and two that got stunted by geting root bound in red cups. Here are a few pics as well

These are about 40 days old from seed. The garden is down to 8 plants total, lost one to a bad nutrient issue and another to thrip damage. Got the neem oil out real quick and managed to save the rest. They got topped about 6 days ago and will veg for another 2-4 weeks before transitioning into a 12/12 schedule. I'll be reducing the photoperiod slowly, about an hour a week until I reach 12/12. I'm hoping this will reduce stress and give the plants an easy transition into flower production.

They are also showing some preflowers, but nothing definitive enough for me to tell girls from boys, plus my camera can't get in close enough to snap a good shot of the pre-bubs to ask for help. I'll just wait until its clear, or maybe grow this one out for seed and prep for a guerilla outdoor op next year:bigjoint:

So, it's been a while. We are in week three or four of flowering.

All my indica dominate looking plants turned out to be male and my sexiest lady decided to start popping out balls.

Since the last post I topped all the plants and did LST to get them to bush out.

How am I doin' so far? :-?

buy a timer that is rated for your wattage. Most likeley a 1000w rated timer. Also you may want to start lowering the light slowly? What kind of reflector are you using? air cooled?

I'm not silentzombie for no reason, lol.

To address your question, the reflector is a 6" air cooled reflector with a 500cfm rated fan blowing through a home made carbon filter.

As for the thread, been way too busy to update.

The HPS lamp blew in only two weeks, but thankfully it is covered under warranty. It was a 600w AgroMax HPS (95,000 lumens), so the ladies are under the conversion MH until the replacement arrives.

I got a new timer, it was just the cheapo CrapMart timer that was a problem.
