Ballast connection question

I have a 250w ballast which I know that there is a cable from the reflector to the ballast, then a cable that goes to a power circuit of somesort..
the thing i'm confused on is, DO I have to connect a ballast main cord directly to the wall socket or could I connect it to a power board?

Plugging directly into the wall is not recommended, always use some kind of surge protector or surge strip, this should go for all your electronics at home, computer, tv's, xbox, its safer.

Long as it gets it's power at the rating it's supposed to, it'll switch on, if that's your question.

Your ballast might have a safety fuse
