ballast Q?

well one of my friends was saying that digi-ballasts run your bulbs out faster and that they are not that great i was going to get a new 250w lumatek ballast
but my friend just uses cfls so i really dont think he knows what what he is talking about

yes some bulbs do burn out faster on digis due to the huge difference in out put of Hz 60 for mag,20,000 for a digi

get the digital ballast. Just don't buy Eye Hortilux bulbs. According to several bulb manufacturers, ballast manufacturers and my local indoor gardening shops bulbs actually last longer in digital ballasts. According to a post I saw attributed to lumatek, Eye is making their bulbs different than standard bulbs which is causing problems.

i wanted to get the lumatek 250 and a cool tube setup for my cab
i was going to get a SS150 but i decided not to and just wait until xmas
to get a hps set up

digital ballasts are the way to go. They run cooler, use less power, are quieter. The bulbs burn brighter and you can use the same ballast with both MH and HPS just by changing the bulb.

I have noticed that cheap bulbs don't work as well in digital's. I use the eye enhanced super blues and have no problems. I use them in 400s and 600s and 1000ws

As for burning them out quicker, you will be changing them long before that happens.

your FINAL PRODUCT will show the DIFF. between CFL and a Digi-ballast with MH / HPS bulbs . but REMEMBER the bulbs are like 60 bucks a piece

has your friend used hid lighting or a cfl man
bulbs on all grows need to be replaced after several grows cfl,hps , or mh they all diminish over time

My question is will a 400w Hps Put out more luminens and work better than 4-5 of my 300w equiv using 68w each they don't cost me any more on my electric bill than my mac... .lol Basically if i buy a lumatek is it going to cost me more to operate than my cfls? and if so how much roughly obviously it depends what power company and shit but is it noticeable? And with my cfls it stays 68-71 due to it being ass biting cold outside how much hotter will it get with abalast and hps light

no more then $20 dollars a month to run a 400 look at you electric bill it will say what u pay for a 1000 watts
1 kw
and a hps will make big difference and i would still use the cfls with hid light

Not noticeable the company wants the money.. not sure about the price of elec. but HPS is always good.. Mh / hps is nice

Well i want to dense up my nugs warm up my grow room a TAD not alot and increase my yield obviously this is the best place to start but i dont want something that will be easily noticed if you know what i mean i have a stealth operation i have been running for some time now with cfls but the big fuckers not the ones everyone else posts that they are using the 300w using 68w each or what efver

man the computer u most likely leave turned on burns more per hour then 400 watt light

Thats true... I just looked at my bill HOLY hell what a dif.... Aparently i was using luje 1800 3 months ago when it was 79.1 for an avg temp and using 848 this last month and it was 49.... hahah

wattage is wattage, whether you are using 400W in compact flourescents or 400W hid, the bill is the same. The hid light puts out more lumens watt for watt, which is what counts.
