I'm about to start a new crop in a basement but for now it is a sealed basement with no intake or outtake ventilation.
Would it be okay for my plants for this lack of ventilation? should I get enough "passive" fresh air seeping through to my basement for my plants to be happy?
Heat build up is not going to be a big issue due to my really cold climate outside, so venting my outtake is not my biggest concern.

Has anyone here ever grown in a basement (or other) with simular conditions, no venting? One of my friends said ill be fine, but Should I be worried?
 
I'm in my basement. no way to duct out. just the air that comes down the stairs. no problems. I'm in a 3x3x7 tent 600 watt with 6 inch exhast and CB filter. shouldn't be an issue, kinda depends on how big an area u growin in too
 
Honestly I would say it depends on the basement. I have been in many that are dark and dank and way to moist. Then there are ones like mine. Well insulated with egress windows and central heat. If you have the dank basement, you will need the extra ventilation or you will have issues with molds and such.
 
well your going to vent those cool tubes out a window right ? other wise you will be out of business in the summer it will super heat the basement . you do not need any ventilation , if you can breath the air they plants are happy. I keep my co2 on 24 ,7 because at night it will get cold . and the co2 keeps it around 70 sealed room. 10 burner keeps it toasty .
 
ive grown in sealed room, u DONT need a inlet, just a outlet, air always finds ts way in, its the light heat u need out,

thats the main deal, to pump the hot qir out, i ran 3k in a basement, u need to be worrying about moiture more than intake,, keep shit dry brother.
 
It's a decent basement. Cement floors but insulation is good and since I been monitoring the temp/rh it's stays around 55-lower to lower 60s Fahrenheit at best. And humidity is innthe 50's% And it is kinda cold out too, like in the 20's and 30s With my 1000w I know I can get ideal temps. I'm going to be growing in the open full basement no tent also . In the winter here with temps reaching below zero I also figure heat is going to be little to worry about.
 
it will be difficult to control the smell from drifting upstairs unless you seal the basement from the upper floor, but in most cases this is not easy.

IMHO....not saying you can't grow as you are describing, but air exchange is a major benefit
