Best way to stick led strip light to aluminium

as the title suggests...

I bought aluminium trays and Samsung strip lights.

Thy don’t really have any holes just notches.

Do you all just use tiny bolts?

Cheers I just ordered some. I was just concerned the tape wasn’t strong enough and they may fall off. How long have yours held up?

I built my lights a few months ago. Others have been using it for years without issue. Just Be careful when applying it, make sure its straight , cause it sticks crazy good and isnt easy to remove or reapply.

Sounds like your response “be careful it’s crazy sticky and doesn’t come off easy” is a pretty good recommendation to the ability of the tape to adhere the strip

I'd personally never, ever use tape. Thermal grease and screws to hold down the strip is the absolute best way to transfer heat.

I'd think that as long as you used a quality tape and followed cleaning the back of the strip and the aluminum, it would be a permanent install. Having said that, when I have used light strips on any of my build I have always used thermal paste and riveted the strips to the heatsink. I'm a retired mechanic, so I have to let some of my old tools come out of hiding occasionally.

So true.
And one thing to keep in mind, using tape is a nightmare if you ever were to want to disassemble for failure, upgrade, or reuse of a strip. Thermal grease allows for simple uninstallment and with a few turns of a screwdriver, a wipe of the back of the LED and the heatsink with a paper towel, your strips basically brand new again.
