*Beware of AK Green Labs*

Legal in AK

I've seen these guys pop up and decided to do a little research into who their are and if they were legit and this is what I have found.

http://akgreenlabs.com/

We are offering gas chromatography
GC machine's are very cheap and the results they produce are typically wrong. A GC machine will cost anywhere from $500-$5000. A HPLC(industry standard) machine costs $40,000 for a used unit.

Let's take a look at another testing lab in the industry that is already reputable. This is what SC Labs has to say on the subject

http://sclabs.com/services/services-potency-testing.html
SC Labs Cannabis potency testing offers a full cannabinoid profiling, utilizing High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC/DAD) for our cannabinoid analysis. Older methods using Gas Chromotography (GC) heat the sample and are unreliable when measuring heat sensitive compounds such as the acidic cannabinoids.

CANORML coauthored a study with Project CBD to determine the quality of results from testing labs.

http://www.projectcbd.org/.../2014/01/Ring-Test-2011.pdf

For unknown reasons, labs using GC generally reported higher readings for THC and CBD than labs using HPLC. For GC, the THC measurements for samples F and G averaged 42% to 46% higher than for HPLC, while CBD measurements were 20% to 33% higher.
So these guys only do potency testing (they claim terpene and residual testing is "coming soon") and the results will be much higher than what they actually should be.

Now let's talk about pricing, these guys are charging $100 for potency testing with inaccurate equipment(not to mention nobody on the staff has any sort of formal education/training)
SC Labs charges $80 and also offer microbiological screening as well as pesticide & PGR screening. These guys at AK Labs are not even capable of conducting visual inspection properly. I thought the whole point of testing was to check for the safety of patients, not try to jack off your ego.

Now if you also read the about page some more incorrect information pops out

The body will not absorb marijuana that has not been decarboxylated, that is why cannabis users heat marijuana to consume it either by smoking, vaporizing or cooking it.
These guys are touting that they know they science and they don't even know what THCA is? The benefits of juicing raw cannabis have been known for ages and to spread these types of lies to Alaskans just continues to hold the movement back up here. We are the laughing stock of the lower 48 right now because the types of people leading the industry up here are a complete joke. When I confronted AK Green Labs about their incorrect information their response was this.

So they are advertising that they can ensure the safety of the medicine they test, without running a single test for safety!!!!
