Ya pool shock... but in Canada things are different. Ive been looking and cant find the brand name so... looking for the equivalent. So... go with the chem name i guess....
The thing is a lot of the pool stuff has additives... which is confusing me. Not sure what additives might be harmful to the plants and such...

I can try to order off of Amazon.com, but it sometimes defaults to amazon.ca, which doesnt carry a lot of american products.

Canadian tire? Walmart? Walmart is where I got my last container of pool shock. I've been using the same container for 5 years(just in the summer), and you can hardly tell I've used any.

if those 2 are no go, any pool or spa supply store would have it. i believe HTH is 62% so if yours is different, you'll have to adjust ratio a bit.

I use one that measures to 1/10s. Or rather 0.1.

i bought mine off ebay for about 30 bucks. i would go with precision if it were me. my dose for 20 gallons was only 0.60 grams which is about a few shakes of a salt shaker. it's a tiny amount because of it's concentration of chlorine.

I know you didn't ask, but figured I'd share 
. I mix a 1/2 tsp of shock into a gallon of water. Then dose that solution into my res at one ounce per gallon in the res. So my 40 gallon res gets roughly 40 ounces of this solution every 3-4 days. Keeps things clean and happy.
All that being said really I'm not usually totally scientific about it. Once I saw about how much each res used. I usually just put a few "glugs" from the gallon every few days.

I used to live very close to the boarder growing up
