Calyx's starting to swell, how much longer?

I'll see if I can get a pic up, but I'm about 5 weeks flowering a lowryder #2/b.c. mango cross under 150w HPS. One plant is looking extra good, and I've noticed the calyx's (where the hairs/stamens grow out of) have started to get a little bigger. Is this the buds "filling out"? Hairs are also starting to turn brown and red and curl up. What kind of general time frame am I looking at, like a week or a month?

in my opinion i would buy a x30 magnifier and look at ur crystals instead of the amount of red hairs my friend, just a suggestion:-P. this way you can see when the trichomes are ready instead!!

Yes, I bought one from Radio shack, and I'll use it to dial in exactly when they're readY! But, that isn't my question. I am wondering roughly how much longer at this late stage. Calyx's are swelling now and one of the two plants looks nice, but I'm unexperienced on the timing. How quickly does the final bit of fattening up happen once it starts to happen?

it'll finish when it finishes, have some patience...
Uhhh, okay. Thanks for the sage advice :wall:

Really though, that's probably what most eager beavers need to hear. I'm not asking out of an arising urgency, I'm simply just looking for a general picture. Speaking of general pictures, here:

you can't really gauge how much weight they will gain, all you can do is harest it at the perfect time. when the resin glands start to turn milky. When they start turning amber that means they are starting to overripen.

I think that the answer you are looking for is

Depending on the strain - but most typically buds tend to swell up and gain their width their last 2 weeks of flowering.

Okay, so the last two weeks of flowering they gain a bunch in weight and density right? What visual or other kind of signal is there that this two week period has started? I mean I know it's not necessarily EXACTLY two weeks for every strain, but when you see them swelling, and the hairs starting to get taken over by the bud sacks, you are looking at ROUGHLy two more weeks? Sound about right?

i assume you mean the 3rd pic, because it looks so cool! That one I used the flash, and it just shows off the frostiness much better! These are BC Mang/ Lowryder #2 cross.
