Can anyone help me with a migraine, chronic pain, or ear, nose & throat specialist?

Can anyone in BC help me by referring me to a specialist who can help me? I have problems with migraines, pain management, and insomnia relating to a blocked nasal airway that requires surgery to fix? I also have a lower lumbar injury due to picking up a massive rock and something popped inside my lower back. After that I couldn't walk for a few days and now the sciatica comes every year and just drops me to floor. I have been to four specialists so far and they absolutely refuse to sign any forms so that I can get a medical marijuana possession card issued. I'd welcome private messages if you don't want to post any specialists name on the forum. But I really need some help here. THanks to anyone who can assist me. I know marijuana works because I use it now. I'd like to go legal though. I therefore need a specialist that will sign the form required.

I want to thank the one person who cared enough to write in to me today with my first lead for a specialist. Thanks man. Anyone else want to show some kindness?I went to my fifth specialist today. Dr. Dong is a respirologist at a sleep clinic in burnaby BC and he diagnosed me as having severe sleep apnea with symptoms including chronic pain, insomnia, and migraines. I thought everything was going well. He tells me it's so bad I need to wear the full size darth vadar mask to breathe at night and need to drop 25 pounds. I tell him I need help now and I can't pay $2500 for this mask just now. So I show him a form to sign saying we discussed all the problems and things I've tried. He says nope. Not signing anything. Don't know anything about medical marijuana. I went off at him. I said all you specialists, we're supposed to come and see you to get your signatures but you won't sign no matter if I have some studies for you. Proof it helps with sleep, proof it helps with pain management, proof it helps relieve migraines. You're boycotting and that's not right. You shouldn't be given this power if you won't let people have access to it. He took it but he said he wasn't signing anything. So I have no idea if the letter he writes back to my GP will be enough. Severe sleep apnea long term leads to death. That was my rant. After the fifth specialist I just lost the plot.

I appreciate you saying that OGvilgenius but I went through the medical cannibus resource centre in Vancouver and they give you a two page print out to take to the specialist. The first page is a release of information form which you sign and hand over to the receptionist and the other form requires the signature of the specialist plus they have to tick yes/no to two questions. That all conventional means have been tried and the other one is that all conventional methods are innapropropriate for you. I have taken these forms to five specialists and each one has said no way will I sign this! As of last night I have asked for a refund from MCRC. A few people who sent me a PM have told me that most pot friendly doctors do not do this. It seems like it's only the MCRC that has you take a form to the sepcialist to sign and going from my experience with that I am quite curious how they make any money and stay in business. If you're just starting out like am/was I'd avoid this place. They caused me a heap of stress and all of these specialist appointments took me a heap of time to organise and get to.I have some letters from specialists sent to my GP though so I'll get some copies of those and try to find a better medical ganja GP.I have a diagnosis of having had cancer in 2007 and a diagnosis of severe sleep apnea. Will that be enough?Have a good day all.Buckets

Okay, some progress after a month of pain. The sixth specialist I saw I paid $532 for a private consult and they truly listened to me. We spoke about my side effects from chronic severe sleep apnea and they said okay. I wasn't dumb this time. I didn't ask them to sign any forms. I asked them to please document in their report that we spoke about medical marijuana access for insominia, pain, and migraines. I had a name of a pain/anesthetics specialist who is in BC but not in Vancouver and I asked if he would refer me to them so I could talk to them about using medical marijuana. I haven't seen the report yet but if he did write it all in, then all I have to do is show that letter to a ganja pro doctor (GP) and I should be okay. I just got a phone call from a GP not in Vancouver who is willing to see me based on my cancer letter so I am finally seeing some progress. I will take this special report to them as well and I should be sweet.

So far I have had two people write into me giving me some leads and I really want to thank you but I won't say any names as you requested. So thanks!

Just remember that you have to have that specialist document that you talked about the use of medical marijuana for such and such medical issue. It must be in their report that they send your GP. YOu have a right to get that report so you can ask to have it sent to you to your private email. But you must say these things. I have found one pain specialist who agrees that medical marijuana has it's uses with pain. What a frikin journey! I'm almost there though.

Thanks all.

Got my report emailed to me. The specialist listed chronic fatige, sleep apnea, and sleep problems! Stated that I had discussed the use of marijuana previously and that it helped me. That's so important to have that put in there. Now I have a good report to use when I see my pro ganja GP. What an effort to learn how to get this done! Hope you guys that are just starting on your journey do okay with your search.

Ha ha ha. I seem to be the only one writing in this thread. Ah well, experience is the mother of learning. So, today I went and saw the pro Ganja GP. I saw clearly on his forms that he does not authorise medical marijuana for smoking. Only Ingenstion and inhalation (by vaporizer). I went in thinking if I said I use honey oil that would get me more. Instead he helped me and said he wanted to help me. I had written food stuffs and he said teas and foods - no problem. Some tea bags are 10 gram bags! He was willing to give me a 40 gram a day script. That was the maximum he would authorise for anyone he said. But if I went past 20 grams a day, it costs $3000 one time tax deductible fee. If I wanted a script for 20 grams or less, then it costs only $500. He further told me that if a person gets a script for 1-20 grams a day, health canada doesn't look at that to closely. But if it is 21 grams or more, he said Health Canada will for sure call his office and he's happy to shield his patients from them but he needs to be paid to do that extra service. I told him I didn't have 3 grand and he said no problem. So he gave me a script for 20 grams a day which is 100 plants. Not bad for a first time attempt eh? I asked him if I came back next year with the three thousand would he consider helping me go up to forty grams a day and he said yes. No problem. The having cancer and groin pain justifies it and since I am ingesting, you need more medical weed. He's a young doctor and he was quite pleasant. Oh, and that $500 fee is tax deductible as well.

So now I have to figure out if I am going to grow it myself or find myself a designated grower. I'm not sure yet what I will do. But there's my experience in the process of getting a medical card. Hope this helps people.
