Can I get a review of light controller wiring diagram please.

So I am building a light controller for a new room in a couple months and wanted to get someone to check out my wiring plan. The only thing I am really unsure about is the 120v circuit that is on a 240 line. Going to run 12/3 and it seems to me if I just run the neutral to the bus bar it will be 120 and I'll pick up that hot off the outlet and run it to the relay along with the other hot wire and I will then have 240 at the relay.

I decided to run two 20 amp lines instead of a single 40 amp(or 50amp) as it will just be easier and cheaper given the cost of 10/2 (or 10/3) wire.

the relays are controlled by your standard grow room timer, I figured I would jsut cut some plugs off an old lamp or something and use them as relay triggers.

I guess I could run a single 40 amp line into the box and then spllit it to each relay... but if I did it that way I would have 40 amps flowing through the 120 timer outlet..which doesn't seem right.

Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks!

oh yeah.. grounds have been ommited (obviously). but do I need to ground the trigger wires coming off the timer? seems like no.

Because the timer is wired to the relays and the ballasts and controller is outside the room for obvious reasons.

Running a whole new 120 circuit would cost way more than 25' of 10/3 wire anyways.

I'll just find an electricians forum to post on to get a confirmation.

The way I have it drawn is pretty clear actually. Most light controllers have an integrated timer. I wasn't diggin on you in particular, just making an observation. A pretty accurate one actually

Yes. I could absolutely do that...for $160 dollars.

The relays cost me $20.

Many people dont know what a relay is or how it works. A relay is simply a switch that turns on one thing or many things at once..typically by using a very small amount of current. Relays for large amp circuits are common and cheap. It is the "proper way" to turn high amp circuits on and off.

At any rate, I got my answer on another forum. The way to wire a 120 and 240 circuit off the same run is shown correctly in my diagram.

Cheers

very informative posts. I really like how you came back and erased your intiall stupid ass suggestion. Maybe because you realized you never really read the original post nor understood how lighting controllers work.

"here dude" Buy two of these $90 spa timers instead. LMAO... ok. go ahead and play your lttle kiddie games.
