Can I top my plant now!!!!

I want to top my plants after the second node to ge 4 colas. Uncle Ben says to wait until I get 5-6 nodes before I top my plants. Is this something that I have to do, or can I top my plant when it only has three nodes? Ant advice would help!

i have never tried for the 4 colas, but have some plants do it anyway. imo you wait until the 5th or 6th node so that the plant is more mature and it will respond much better to the topping. i would like to try this at some point.
i think if i was going to try it, i would wait until 5 or 6 nodes top at the 3rd one up and clip off the bottom set of branches. now i have to go and read uncle ben's thread again.
