Can One Single Person Change the World?

I get a lot of mixed reactions to this question.

What do you think, can a single person change the world?

This could also include recruiting others through motivational means, inspiring others to support your cause, etc..

What does it take to change the world?

I would say yes... but unless a person is placed in (or works to) a position of high enough power to have influence to bring world change, I think one would HAVE to recruit others through motivational means, and inspire others to support the cause. I believe that everyone should "be the change you wish to see in the world" but it seems that everyone who ever changed the world was a pretty powerful human being. Presidents, Dictators, high up military leaders, ect. come to mind

One person can change the world. Bill Gates at one time was an unknown computer geek. Now, Microsoft is standard OS in PC computers and Smartphones. Huge impact. The Grand Canyon was carved out by a stream that began with but one drop of water. Powerfull and influential people are the only ones that can make lasting change? Have you ever heard about the 14 year old kid that desired to help those less fortunate by donating his or her Christmas/ Birthday presents to those who had none? Word of mouth about this selfless act led to a progression of donors and volunteers that joined the cause. If I'm kind to a stranger stranded beside the road and this person in return helps someone else in need and that then snowballs into the whole "pay it forward" movement in which millions of people want to help many millions more people then insignificant little ol' me has helped to change the world for the better. Never let yourself think that your act of kindness, courage, bravery or whatever is just a drop in the bucket that amounts to nothing. That one drop is the first of many that creates the worlds largest seas and oceans.
 
I think the world changes every second because of even the tiniest things. You never know how some things that tend to seem meaningless impact everything else on the premise of a bigger picture.

Look at Jesus Christ. Religion aside, the influence presented by christianity has shaped the world in thousands if not millions of instances and changed the very fabric of society since its birth. He was in fact, one man.

Maybe one person can not change the world.. but one person can definitely change an aspect of it.​
 
Martin Luthar King jr! Abraham Lincoln, JFK, Obama, Hitler, Me lol yes I firmly believe one person can change the world, also the little things
 
The answer is yes. We all change the world with everything that we do everyday.

Surprised nobody said this guy...



He led a movement that crippled the grasp of the British Empire without ever throwing a fist or firing a single bullet. His methods were used my MLK and many other civil-rights movements.
 
So then the question is, what does it take?

Simply a good idea? (why do bad ideas change the world as well, ie. Hitler?)

or is the person proposing/supporting the idea more important? (MLK, Hitler, MalcolmX, all great speakers)

or is it something else all together?

Good and bad people influence our ideas.

There are things in cultures we consider "good" and "bad", ideas we consider "benevolent" and "malevolent", actions that are "right" and "wrong".

Influences are influences, ideas are ideas, actions are actions.. all of them move people. It does not matter if they are good or bad.

Those are all people who knew how to be heard. There are plenty of people who should be heard who are not. If you can make yourself heard, you leave people with no chance but to listen.

It is everything put together.

I personally stick strong with what I said, one person can't change the world.. they can change the way we do something, change how things are said, change the process of our thoughts, change what is popular, change music, change art, change clothing, etc.

They can alter an aspect of the world... so yes, they change the world; only one aspect at a time.
