Can you grow in the attic?

My roommate wants to start a little bit bigger grow, maybe in the attic.
The house is very old, and the attic is filled with nasty pink insulation, I thought it might be unhealthy for the plants, lots of bugs and mites and dusty crap. What do you guys think?

sounds like alot of work.

also sounds like a major house fire waiting to happen. Make sure you install your electrics safely and efficiently, keep a fire extinguisher or 2 up in the attic , and install a smoke alarm. Would be an idea to box in the pink lagging with plaster board or ply.
