Cannabis Myth List

Don't ya hate it when you've got some guy arguing with you about cannabis facts when they are obviously wrong and absolutely REFUSE to take your word into account. Let me list the ones I've come across from the same stubborn person.

Pot can be grown purely under black light.

A male plant will grow faster and be less bushy than a female BEFORE you start to flower.

A male plant will smell less than a female BEFORE flowering(not absolutely sure this isn't true though...)

A plant stretches because it has too much water and light.

Note that these are all untrue and my friend is thoroughly convinced that all of them are. the only thing that comes to mind when I hear these is "where is the moron who started these rumors so I can beat some sense into him". Sorry to sound kinda hotheaded, I'm not it just annoys me when people will not listen to reason on these things. Has anyone else ever encountered people like this? And please list the myths that they believe to be true. I'd kinda like to get a list going of all the BS that goes around cannabis growing.

lol ye bong water. I had an argument the other day about flowering cycles, a mate of mine was convinced that you don't have to change from 18/6 to 12/12 to flower lol. Meh what can you do, they're the ones that sound like dick heads in the end.

well he was partly right but only for lowryder strains, he's probably seen someone else grow that strain and applied it to all cannabis.

quick drying is good.

you can pee on your plants.

CFL's are great.

bagseed is bunk.

medical pot is different then street weed.

girls make better growers.

plucking fan leaves helps.

indoor is better than outdoor.

I think that a male plant does grow faster and taller, its genetics, it happens this way in order for the male to pollenate the female, it will be easier for the plant to drop pollen onto the fem as opposed to get it to go upwards.

A plant can stretch from too much water and light.

During the first two weeks of flowering, the plant stretches. I have found this to be more severe the times when i was watering too much in hydro. I have also read that this is the case in a jorge cervantes book.

I've come across that myth before, apparently a lot of people think that the seeds boost the THC levels, not the opposite.

A waning moon causes slow root growth and a waxing moon causes faster root growth.

not entirely sure that tis is not true in a slight way but if it were true than it would cause some problems for people planting during a waning moon, and I've never heard of that happening.

DOES THE PHASE OF THE MOON REALLY MATTER?

When planting outdoors, fishing, or hunting, the moon will be your best comrade. Always plant on the NEW moon and up past the first quarter. This goes for transplanting as well. A handy book for the GG is the old farmers Almanac, I never plant without one.

The increase of the Moon when transplanting/ planting seeds has a gravitational pull that just affects every living thing, even you. I?m not gonna get into this subject as it just seems to go the wrong way. Just believe that its TRUTH. The answer is YES... Survival rate, and ending yields are much better.

I'm not gonna argue with mogie on that one, but stuff like that is why I like the indoor grow

That was actually something gleaned from OverGrow. A lot of people go by the old farmers almanac. If the moon can effect the tides it must be powerful enough to effect over stuff too.

I read that post this evening. I think the kid was trying to say that it'll stay cooler to remove the glass if you were NOT going to run ventilation through the hood. I can see where this would severely dampen heat dissipation. I've never used big HIDs so correct me if I'm wrong.
