Hey guys, growin a a large pc case, (see my journal), under 4 23w cfls, as soon as I go above 2 CFls the temps rise above 28degrees (87ish F). Any ideas getting the heat out? ambient room temps are about 4 degrees lower! more intake more exhaust? just dont see how these bulbs wont burn!

You've probably nailed it - what do you have now for intake and exhaust? Good airflow is equally important.

Quite a few PC case growers here are using a fitted glass heat shield between the bulbs and the plants, you extract from above the glass and blow in below the glass, works well, I use one myself in my stealth cabinet. But as said if room temp is high then it wont make a big difference. generally I find in a tight space about 5 above ambient temp is what you get, even with the screen. I keep my room at 70 and box temps hold at 75/76.

Hope this helps in some way. Use thin glass and get it cut to size. You can rest the bulbs on the glass and have the plants just an inch below with no heat issues or burning. My thread has some pics of it in action. You need to be able to remove it for regular cleaning.

cool, thanks guys! Ive ripped the glass out of an old flat bed scanner, got some silver ducting, panda plastic and a cardboard box, whipped an enclosure up and just testing to make sure it does melt, looks like it will do the trick
