cfl wattage/lumens

how many cfls do i need for 6 plants in a 4x4x5 room...im only using them for veg i have a hps for flower..idk whats more important watts or lumens...and if cfls are supposed to go by the actual or rated watts....26w=100w incadescent
 
Your gonna want at least 4-5 26w a plant.

Or you xan grab a couple 150w cfl

Just remember to keep em as close to the plant with burning them :) i was able to get my cfls like 1/2" away without burn

first, compact florescent produce 60 lumens per actual watt; what is written on the bulb itself. as well, the sun produces 10,080 lumens at the surface of the earth; roughly.

so with those two numbers in mind develop your lighting. you will need anywhere between 168 to 400 actual watts--which is quite a few light bulbs; and large ones--depending on the positioning of each girl; whether they are close together, and how far from the light source.

but to be honest you may be better off just using your high pressure sodium and just drop a few--2 to 4, 42w cfls--in between all the girls allowing maximum light penetration.
 
fuk it ima jus get a switchable 400 watt mh/hps..that would work ryte..by the time i get all the bulbs and socket i could of bought 1
 
hahaha yeah that's what i'm sayin'. like if you don't want to waste more money--since you apparently already have an hps--you could just do what i suggested and use the hps for vegging AND drop like 2 or 4 42wattcfls next to the girls. but that's just my two cent.
 
id do the conversion deal but i found a 400 watt switchable mh/hps brand new with reflector yo-yos and ballast and both bulbs mh isnt a conversion for 120..its a shitty reflector but ima build or buy a cool tube then...i appreciate the help tho guys..i luv RIU for this reason lol
