Well we no longer have a sugar daddy to help fund the USA spending spree. China is no longer buying treasuries, they are slowly trying to offload them all.

the real reason China is diversifying it's portfolio is the same reason any broker does it, there's more profit to be earned in almost every other investment product on the market today.

US treasury securities pay just enough interest to adjust it's value for inflation, but not much.

US treasury securities are still regarded as the most secure investment you can make, thus their ultra-low interest rates.
