You can save yourself some labor later on by plucking off all the largest fans now. Some do, some don't. For heavily frosted strains I like to pluck right away. Makes trimming easier. On the flip side of the coin, the fans help to sheath the frost and preserve more intact trichomes. Gland heads can get very brittle and fall off during movement.
