Ive never tried it, but I was thinking of taking my tops and trying to clone them.
Once they recover, go straight to 12/12 and see if i get em to grow like autos, just some nice short single cola plants.
I know clones are best taken from the bottom because they are likely to have more root hormones than the top, but Ive watched videos of people cloning from upper tiers, but they were never tops only branches.
Curious if anyone has actually cloned their tops.
Well, I had a good post lined up, but then RIU decided to take a shit on the post, so Ill try again.
I have used tops of plants as clones, and I have found them to root faster and more vigorous than lower side branches. Of course other people have reported the other way around. I can only speak from my own experience.
Branches at the bottoms of plants do not have more rooting hormones(Auxins) than the tops. The greatest concentration of auxins will be in the apical meristem of your main cola or colas, and this hormone is diffused downwards through the plant, so It would seem to make more sense to use tops as clones, or to use branches near the tops as your clones.
For OP, and anyone else curious about this Ive even got pics.
First is a clone made from a main cola. This is after 12 days rooting. All the clones I took from main colas rooted nearly as well as this particular one.
Now, here is a clone from a Satori that was taken near the bottom.
I dont know about you, but Ill keep taking my clones from tops or near the top of the plants in the future.
Hope this helps.
