Cloning??????/

I think I'm gonna try my hand at cloning. I know it seems easy enough but you can sure leave it to me to screw up something easy. My question is when you have cut your clone, placed it in rockwool and waited for the roots to show themselves. At exactly what point do you put them in soil?
 
Lol its better if u use jiffy pellets than rockwool someone dde side by side comparasion on grasscity a while back.
 
Cool thanks guys. Hey one more question can you take clones from a plant already flowering for a few weeks, off of the very bottom that is.
 
It may take a little longer to eoot but ive read the clones success is actually higher id u take the clone during flowering and not veg

Well if you take a clone from a feminized plant (seed) shouldn't all clones be female? Regaurdless if your flowering or vegging?
 
Yeah it will be female imsaying tho that they have a better chance at living since u took it in flowering
 
- jiffy pellets suck! use rockwool every time....... jiffy pellets stay soggy and wet and make it more likely that clones will mold..... rockwool cubes r perfectly easy and simple........ say no to jiffy pellets....... I tried them and went straight back to Rockwool!
 
Well, we shall see what happens! I took 6 clones all bagseed (this is all practice) I put 3 in rockwool and 3 straight in a solo cup with Light Warrior and ofcoarse I used Clonex and Super Thrive. Like I said we shall see. I did put all six in the clone dome. Is it really necessary to put the ones in soil in the clone dome?:dunce:
 
I use peat pellets for cloning. Ive never lost a clone using them. Its easier than rockwool, you don't have to worry about the ph cause your going into soil anyway.

I see others had trouble with the peat. The trick is to keep the water in check. Don't over water it and it'll be fine. I see roots in 7 days and strong roots in 10. I've even taken clones from plants in the 3rd week of flower using the large jiffy pellets and had 100% success.
 
If you know what your doing you can have 100% sucess with jiffy pellets....
I go with a cheap plastic dome from the hydro/garden store and the dirt pucks that expand in water. Cut on 45 degree, scrape and score stem, dip in rooting gel and insert into puck. Squeeze of extra water from the top down ensuring that the dirt squeezes firmly arround the clones stem and dome it. I keep mine coverd with a white towel that allows ambient light for the first 3 days(i read that this allows the plant to focus on root developement and less on photosynthesis for the first few days) then remove it. On day 5, I move the dome top a couple of inches away from my fluorescents. As long as your room temp is right (mid 70's to mid 80's) and the moisture level of the puck is kept damp dry....NEVER dripping wet, then you should have fast results with good sucess. I cut 20 clones at a time, every 4-6 weeks, and in over a year have had only 1 single failure using this method.​
