hello
looking for some opinions on gorilla growing with coco coir, i've heard a lot of good things about it, big thing for me is that its small, easy to hide in a hiking back and then just keep a hydration blatter with you(aka camel pack(easily 2 gallons) to mix it with.

so heres my mix idea, just want some opinions, or alternatives that are more sucessful

1 brick coco peat(1/3 cubic foot)5 parts
3 parts sand
.5 parts polymer crystals
1.5 parts worm castings
2 parts natural soil(clay)

this almost fills a 3 gallon grow bag. the bag would be burried about an inch below soil level and more soil would cover the bag its self

anyone have any opinions on this? the site will be attended to once a week and on 2 possibley 3 occasions they will be unattended for 11 days.

anyone ever have any problem with root rot(or any root issues for that matter) with coco coir? what about polymer crystals?

anything else that i should add to the mix?

any help would be greatly appreciated
thanx!

becareful of the coco you get.

dont get no bullshit. make sure its flushed.

and again...dont get no bullshit coco....you will get wat you pay for

the coco i've found is "cocotek coconut coir brick" they any good?

site says the following

"CocoTek coconut brick is a compressed brick of low sodium coconut coir. Growers are encouraged to mix CocoTek Organic Growing Medium with an equal amount of Hydroton (clay pellets), or combined with other hydroponic media in various proportions. Our new highly-compressed and improved brick absorbs moisture more quickly, giving users the same amount of coir as our previous larger sized brick after expansion. CocoTek makes messy brick separation unnecessary. Just drop CocoTek in approximately one gallon of fresh water or light nutrient solution and allow it to expand to approximately 1/3 of a cubic foot of CocoTek coir. Try this brick and you'll be astounded!"

there any good brands to specificly look for? basicly i really want to avoid hiking threw the woods with bags of soil, fox farm doesn't exist over here, same with black gold, basicly theres MG soil, this perfect brand thats basicly a MG nock off that has nutes, and a few no name brands that are basicly clay sand and broken sticks(bought a few bags befor and i mean sticks some 5-6 inches long)

thanx for any help

bump!!!!!

someone has to have experience with coco coir, atleast recommend me a good brand! or alternatives if its not a good medium for outdoors, anything will help

CANNA. A guy in a grow shop said the nutrients would be washed out of the coco coir when it rains. Perhaps you could cover it for protection.

i would get rid of the sand(sand is for cement)and replace it with perlite.since you have clay soil your going to need more drainage.

im using coco in my basement mix and I am having ph/nute problems... im not particularly down with preloaded mediums and apparently these coco chips are npre charged or something cuz my plant is stunten like my daddy... my advice to u is be careful and know ur medium
