so i have my cab in my basement but i can't get temps down below 80 with less than 1/2 my CFLs on.. well its winter here and i have an unheated garage that usually stays 10 degrees warmer than it is outside. 10-40* F prolly on average.

if i turn my intake fan speed down would this be ok?

i know checking on the plants could hurt them cause it would let a ton of cold air in.

let me know your thoughts.

i would try to run the intake fan from somewhere in the house cause it would be a more stable temp 40F is pretty cold for plants

well the reason for putting it out in the garage is to get the temps down... pushing the same air thru it wouldn't accomplish much considering its 3/4" wood with reflective insulation in it. don't think the temp outside the box would effect it much.

anyone ever done this?

u could leave it in the garage, let the lights heat it up maybe, and connect your fans to a thermostat, that way theyd kick on for just a few mins befor all that cold air cooled everything back down, i think theres a thinger on wiring thermostats somewhere in growfaq

thats a good idea hossfield. i was just at menards today for work and stopped to "check out" the thermostats and noticed one that you just plug into an outlet and it has its own outlet and will turn on or off to keep the temp right... $38... prolly go pick that up and try it... if not just return it.
